Ripping his diaper off might not be a sign of needing to be potty trained. That is a judgement call you need to make yourself. Is he showing signs of wanting to sit on the potty or can he tell you that he has a wet or poopy diaper? I have had four children and they all were potty trained at different ages. It is up to you and your child. Some ideas for keeping the diapers on are:
1. Try duct taping the diaper on at night.
2. What could be happening is he is getting bored and pulling his diaper off is the only thing to do. Try putting a couple of books in his bed after he has gone to sleep at night. That way he will see them in the morning and hopefully play with them.
3. Put underwear on over the diaper. He will love that he is wearing big kid underwear. (don't buy the boring white ones, try Buz Lightyear or something else cool).
Don't worry, this time will pass. He won't be a 16 year old diaper opener. :)
Good luck.

He's 2 so it's time to try to potty train....pull ups usually are a waste of time. Put underware on him and see how he does, keep asking constantly if he has to potty. He'll have a couple accidents but soon will get the hang of it. Stress to him what the potty chair is and repeat yourself several times a day about it and keep asking him if he needs to go.

I have been going through the same thing. My son who was 2 the end of August kept on doing that. I tried putting tape around his diaper, but that didn't stop him, so I decided to try keeping him in jeans that he can't get off, like snap jeans and zippers. And that did the trick for me. So i'd try keeping him in clothes or some kind of clothing that he can't get off. After doing that for a month he stopped doing it and I no longer have to deal with the wasted diapers that he'd pull off.

May I suggest toilet training him, he may be ready if he is taking his diaper off all the time. The only other thing I can suggest, Which you probably have tried is putting a pair of underwear on over top his diaper.

Its time to POTTY!!! It's his way of letting you know that its time for potty training. My daughter is 19months and shes already snatching off her diaper and trainers... she just wont stay put on the potty though. Being that your son is 24 months, he should be really keen on staying put and getting rid of those diapers.

Get him pull-ups. Is he potty-trained? Put on underwear. My son loved to be naked and the only way he could do that was to be potty trained. he was potty trained real early. Try that.

Do you use pull-ups or diapers? I would start potty training, and if you don't want to do that then buy him some pullups!
