What bedtime do you find reasonable for a 2 year old? My mom told me we used to go at 7pm at that age, but that we got up earlier in the morning. Also, she was a stay at home mom, so I think that would have some influence on it.

I aim for anywhere between 8 and 9pm. I would prefer more between 8 and 8:30, but it doesn't always work out that way! I thought 7pm was too early, but it may have worked for my mom. My daughter seems good with 11 hours, and a nap during the day. Our bedtime works fairly well with our schedule, so I was just curious what everyone else does. Thank you for your answers!

Hi there,
Mother of a 2 year old and one on the way! Bed time is at 8:00....bathtime usually between 7:15-7:30. She wakes up between 6:45 and 7am. My husband and I both work full time and my daughter attends daycare during the day. Good luck!

It surely depends on your schedule, as I am a full time mom and have a full time job I like for my 2 year old son to stay up later at night so that we can have that extra time together. He will sleep anywhere from 10:30 to 11:30, this is OK for my schedule as he usually gets up around eight and can still see me before I am off to work each day. He is still getting plenty of sleep as he will usually have a nap for 1 or 2 hours in the afternoon. If he goes to bed at 7 pm, then when do I see him, FOR AN HOUR A DAY!?

Mine goes between 7:30 and 8. He is up between 8 and 8:30. I think the thought is that kids this age need 12 hours of sleep. Mine does not nap, so he gets it all at once. If yours goes to daycare and is up at say 6 am, I would think bed by 8 and a 2 hr nap at school. But, like everything, everyone is different, some need more some need less. My son will often go 13 hrs at night.

Depends on the child. My daughter only sleeps 10 hour nights. Nothing more or less!
Some children need 12 hours of sleep and some need less. If the child is still very tired before the afternoon nap and naps for over 3 hours in the afternoon you may want to put them down earlier at night to shorten afternoon naps.
No one on here will be able to say what time every child should go to sleep at.
anytime from 6:30pm to 9pm depending on the child.
Sorry I can't be more specific.
Good luck!

Hah, if ONLY I could get my 2 1/2 year old in bed asleep by 7:00 p.m. Life would be grand!
My boys (2 1/2 years old and 14 months old) share a room, and I put them to bed at the same time--8:30 p.m. My 14 month old is usually asleep within 5 - 10 minutes. My 2 1/2 year old is usually asleep by 9:00 p.m. (after much twisting, turning, kicking, babbling, whispering, asking for water--basically anything he can do or say to keep himself awake). They get up at 6:30 a.m. on most mornings.

My son, who is 2 and does not nap, bedtime is some where between 7 and 8. I draw the line after 8, since I need my free time before going to bed my self. I am SAHM, of 2 boys.
My best guess, is that you have to see what works best for you and your child. You need to balance both your needs.

8-8:30 and no nap. He gave that up by 2 easily. He is nearly 3 now. And he seems to be good that way, and he wakes up at 7 or 8 pm. All the best to you. OOOps 7 or 8 am. Wouldn't that be nice if he woke up at 7 or 8 pm..... Best!

Our daughter will be 2.5 in a few weeks.
I'm also a stay at home Mom. I start bedtime around
8:30 (earlier if we are having a bath). She gets her PJs on
into bed with a sippy of milk. We chat, sing songs.
She usually sleeps 11 - 12 hours a night.

i have a 8 year old, 2 year old, and one year old. They all go to bed at 9 pm and wake up at 7. They are happy and not fussy at all. My one year old usually naps at 11 and again at 4, and my 2 year old doesnt usually nap at all. I think bedtime depends on the child and the routine.
