I need to get more diapers, but since she did go in the potty, even though it was only once so far, do I just start buying pull-ups or even panties instead of diapers? I'm not sure if it's a good idea to keep her in diapers. Would that send her mixed signals or what? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I have 3 kids a 5 yr old girl in kindergarden, a 3 yr old girl and a boy turning 2. My 5 yr old is the leader of the pack & she is teaching the other two to misbehave. I'm a stay at home mom and I get a break when shes at kindergarden and the younger two go to Mothers Day Out 2x a week. Thats when I can get errands and more cleaning done. My husband works long hours mon - sat so its pretty much just me w/ the kids. My main problem is w/ my five yr old. It took her almost 2 hours to do a simple 1 page homework assignment. She doesn't wanna dress herself or wipe herself after using the potty. She tells me no when I ask her to do something. She won't clean up her toys. She wines and cries everytime she doesn't get her way. I don't wanna spank her, I think shes too old for that but it seems like screaming, yelling, spanking her are the only ways to get her to listen. This is not the kind of mom i wanna be. I cry everytime i do that. I feel like the worst mom in the world. What do i do?

My wife and I decided rather early on in her pregnancy that we wanted our son to have very limited amounts of sugar before the age of three. We've read many articles and watched enough news reports on the subject that tell us that reducing sugar intake until after age three cuts the occurences of diatbetes later in life by as much as 93%.

He's ten months old now and starting table foods. The problem we're encountering is that our parents have chosen to ignore our wishes and have been giving him things like pudding. There's no way for us to know with certainty when they've done this unless they slip up and tell us. So, any suggestions on our next course of action.

My daughter will cry and scream if she doesn't get her away when guest are in my home. She even starts talking baby talk and acts like she doesn't understand anything I say, but when it's just me and her. She talks clearly, she's well behaved, and she can even say her ABC's and count and do other things kids her age don't get a grasp of. But guest look at her like she's retarded because she doesn't act right in front of them. She doesn't do it with family and close friends only people who don't come around much. Am I just overreacting?

has many things that are affecting his sleep, but want to help him get better rest.Has a new baby brother(3mos old-he sleeps great, toddler usually wakes him up),they have seperate bedrooms.Top molars have broken through, might be getting bottom ones (give him Tylenol).Might be having nightmares. No longer naps, but he does have alone time. I put him to bed between 6 and 7 after bath, books, a sippy cup of milk (which I'd like to stop if you have any suggestions on that too), prayers, then hugs and kisses.Room is darkened (right now with blankets, I have to get the room darkening shades).Wakes up a few times through the night then gets up for good between 5 and 6 am.Has a gate on his room, so most of the time he plays nice for an hour of so.Have tried putting him to bed later, but still wakes up too early and becomes overtired. His diet is pretty well rounded plus he gets a multivitamin. Not yet potty trained (just not ready).Watches some tv during the day. just looking for any suggestion

A very exciting opportunity. My son is 4 now and I have been a stay at home mom since last October. Now, I may have an opportunity to go back to work. I would really like to go back to work. I think it would be great for my self-esteem and give me more balance in my life.

I'm scared that my son will feel abandoned if I go back to work. I have talked to the employer and said I would like to do a three week part time and work up to full time transition for my son and they said Great! But, after the three week transition...I'm full time.

I know my son misses having buddies around since he is an only child. In daycare before, he liked having little friends and he loved the teachers.

Is daycare healthy for a 4 year old? He's a busy, high energy, confident little boy...and I don't want to wreck that with 9 hours of day care everyday.

I think his Dad will help out a lot. Am I being selfish for wanting to work again? Help!!! I feel guilty.

She is on the verge of walking and is learning a few new words a day, so I understand if she is too excited to sleep but I wonder...Yesterday she ate more vegetables than usual. Could they have given her gas? We do not let her cry it out (when her cries are full blown, we tolerate tired wimpers). We do have a strong and redular bedtime ritual. She's been sleeping 11 hours a night since 8 months with 2 1.5 hour naps. Now, one 30 inute nap and 9 hours per night. Though, last night she was up at 9, 10, 11, and 2 until we finally decided to bring her into bed...help! Could it have been the veggies??

My friend's daughter is currently obsessed with The Disney Monarchy of Princesses. Today, she professed that she didn't want to ride her bike as " Princesses don't ride bikes, I've never seen one ride one."

She was then politely informed that even though she didn't see princesses pee, they do in fact have to do so. This line of reasoning only went so far.

In short, in your opinon, who are some good female role models that would appeal to a very independent, very cool, three year old girl?

She's left Dora and is in love with Ariel.
Help.

I'm thinking Hermoine Granger....your suggestions, links, et al will be very appreciated in our search for non princess related heroines!

Today was a bad day she peed in her panties 5 times and pooped 1 time. I try to take her but when she doesn't need to go right then she fights me saying "I don't need to go". Then a few minutes later she will wet her panties. She will be 4 in January and I know she understands. She just started preschool 2 days a week and was so excited I felt that maybe peer pressure would help, but she did it at school. Some background this is my sons daughter we have custody of her and her brother 2 1/2. I know she is angry at her mother so I'm wondering if its her way of controling this situation.
