My son is almost 20 months old and is starting to try to climb out of the crib. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how and when they switched to a toddler bed. Also our bedrooms are upstairs any tips for keeping the little guy safe? thanks

I have my 19 month old on sippy cups during the day. He still naps where I give him a bottle to do so; and also at night I give him a bottle to fall asleep with. He wakes up twice in the night time looking for more of his bottle. I have tried changing it to water but he cries hysterically when it isn't his milk.

He also cries/refuses to go for a nap unless he has a milk bottle. I've tried giving him sippies at nap, (and at night) as well as water bottles, but he refuses, cries, and makes a big deal. So I just give in to it, and get him his bottle where he will go fast asleep with it. (He's otherwise a pretty good 19 month old.)

What do I do? How do I get him off of these nightime bottles? Is it so bad, to leave him on the bottle at his age? And hope he will give them up in time??? Thank you for any responses!

My little girl is 11 mo's old. When she gets excited she hits, slaps, scratches, and pulls hair. She's not mad when she does it, but when I tell her, "No hitting, that hurts mommy!" She bursts out crying like I bit off her toe. How do I stop the hitting and crying?

My 13-month-old daugher is getting over a cold and needs a teaspoon of decongestant once or twice a day. What is a better way to give it to her besides holding her down and squirting it all over her face as she writhes and screams. And yes, I am very sorry for doing this to my mom when I was little.

I know it depends on the child but most kids by this age are off of the bottle. The pediatrician said to just throw them away and forget about it. Grandma still likes to give him the bottle from time to time though. he asks for it alot as well. Will he eventually get tired of it?

My son had this procedure done two days ago and, while he does not seem to be in pain, he is constantly putting his fingers in his ears like something MIGHT be bothering him. Is this normal behavior following this procedure? The ENT specialist who performed his operation led me to believe that they are generally back to normal by the next day. Therefore, I would just like to hear from some parents with real life experience. How did your kids react to having the tubes placed? Did they play with their ears a lot after they had the tubes put in and, if so, did they stop doing so within a few days?

She's nearly 3, and if things don't go her way she screams, hits me in the face and shouts 'you're a poo poo'. I try to ignore it, and put her down if i'm holding her. No idea what to do to show her it's unacceptable.

I have a 4 year old son and a 3 year old daughter. My son although only 4 he is very smart. He taught himself how to wright and he just learned how to spell different words on his own. I don't know how he teaches himself to do so. I still can't figure it out. On the other hand my daughter is the opposite. She is only 3 but I figured if my son can learn on his own at 4 then maybe I can teach her. But she is completely lost! Ive tried to teach her simple things like her alphabet and numbers 1-10 but all she does is scribble on paper and says that is her alphabet. My question is, do you think she is a slow learner or is my son just a little more advanced than she is? Or could it be the age difference? Maybe she just needs a little more time?

They have the ones that make noises, sing songs, have a flusher and toilet paper holder...
Is that stuff helpful? i think my kid would be more interested to flip the lid open to hear the phrases, and just sit on it, and get back up to hear the phrases, and sit there spinning the toilet paper holder. That might mean hes not ready yet....
Anyways, should the potty be this fun and entertaining? or should i get the plain one,??

we live on a busy road and so we have our whole property fenced in but just yestarday my son figured out the lock, any suggestions? Any particular locks out there that young children can't figure out too easily? The name of the type of lock and where you purchased it would be helpful. Keep in mind we have to be able to get in and out fairly easily and frequently.

My little boy is 2yrs and 3months, he goes to bed 7pm every night but I am finding it harder and harder to get him to bed at this time if he sleeps in the day, if I try to keep him awake he becomes very bad tempered and snappy.
Afternoon naps can range from 20mins to an hour. I never let him sleep more than 1 hour in the day and this seems to brighten him up nicely and he goes back to being a happy boy but then bed time comes and he is wide awake until about 8:30 (he is in his bed but not asleep) Should I stop the naps and put up with the afternoon grumbles? or bite the bullet and put his bed time back? I am a first time mum so need a little guidence on this please?
thanks.

I'm in teething hell!!! It's been going on for 3 days now and I've done just about everything from Tylenol, Motrin, frozen washclothes, freezepops, Oragel. I'm at wits end and living on no sleep. She won't drink or eat anything no matter what I do. What do you other moms do?
