I'm in teething hell!!! It's been going on for 3 days now and I've done just about everything from Tylenol, Motrin, frozen washclothes, freezepops, Oragel. I'm at wits end and living on no sleep. She won't drink or eat anything no matter what I do. What do you other moms do?

We did two other things in addition to what you list. If Oralgel doesn't work, try dipping your finger in vodka and rubbing it on the gums. The alcohol will numb the gum and calm the baby. Important! Don't give your baby any more that that drop or so that sticks to a finger. I'm not advocating drunk babies here!

The other thing is Melba Toast. Let the child snack on it because the hard edges and rough texture help the teeth to break through sooner.

Try to stay calm with your baby, he/she can't help it. Sleep when he/she does and hang in there. The first tooth is the worst and it will be over in a few days.

I used teething tablets and motrin. Motrin helps with swelling and pain. The oragel makes the gums tougher so it's harder for teeth to cut through and it actually makes it worse. an RN told me that.
Good luck!

13 months can be a rough time -- developmental leaps, growth spurts, and teething (first year molars!) all at once.

I found that frozen grapes worked wonders. Go organic and seedless if you can -- grapes have thin skins and absorb a lot of pesticides and chemicals if exposed, and seeds are just a pain. At 13 months, your kiddo can probably handle the skins. Just cut them in half and stash them in the freezer, grab a handful as needed. Freezing concentrates their sweetness and they have a great texture for teething on.

I'm probably going to get "racked over the coals" for this one but it worked for me. It's something women did in the "Olden days". My grandmother used it, so did my mother. Dip your finger in whiskey, (yes I said whiskey), and rub it on the baby's gums. It acts as an anesthetic and babies like the taste. It is NOT enough to be harmful but it has worked through four generations in my family that I know of and probably goes back a few more generations.

Rub her gums with your finger to help the tooth come out more - are you sure it is only teething? It sounds like it could be an ear infection. When my daughter was whiny and wouldn't sleep it that's what was wrong with her.

My 7month old just started and i give her cold juice that helps, if not I found some tablets at a local Wal-Mart, they are called teething tablets, they are great, you put three under the tongue and the dissolve quick try them for yourself and see how that works. GOOD LUCK

Rub some gin on the gums not even a shot glass full, just enough to completely cover the gums.

try a frozen waffle. its the only thing my daughter would put in her mouth to help soothe the pain. as soon as the teeth break thru the pain should ease. good luck!

How about freezing a bagel. That way it'll make her gums feel good and she can eat a little bit at a time.
