They have the ones that make noises, sing songs, have a flusher and toilet paper holder...
Is that stuff helpful? i think my kid would be more interested to flip the lid open to hear the phrases, and just sit on it, and get back up to hear the phrases, and sit there spinning the toilet paper holder. That might mean hes not ready yet....
Anyways, should the potty be this fun and entertaining? or should i get the plain one,??

I got my daughter one of those expensive singing ones and guess what she never uses it. She wants to use the big potty like mommy and daddy use. She does play with it but has NEVER gone potty on it. Just buy one of those soft seat inserts for the regular potty and a step-stool. You'll save a lot of money and space too!

What is with all the fancy stuff. Bathrooms are a place to take care of your business and get out of there to more fun stuff. Get a cheap toilet ring that fits on the regular toilet seat. Build or buy a two step to put in front of the toilet. Both the ring and the step can be put aside when not in use. The step comes in handy when teaching them good wash your hand skills after being in the bathroom. You don't make your kid sit on the pot.. You start out slow by introducing it and then in a short time they get the idea and are willing to use it. No big fuss, no bells to ring, no music, just get the job done when needed. My son was finished potty training at 2 and my daughter earlier than that. Think guys spend time in the bathroom like it's a library.. it's the last place I want to sit around in and so I didn't expect my kids to either.

My son went right from diaper to the normal potty, there was no in between, and I'm not really sure how that happened! Call it a pleasant surprise...

My daughter was a different story. She used the little potties as a toy and we couldn't get her to go in them. We found a padded seat that looks like a big person toilet seat at Wal-Mart, and it fit over the regular toilet seat but was small enough she didn't fall in, and that worked like a charm! So my vote is for the plain one, but I also think it depends on the child.

I bought a very plain potty with a removable cup (for easy cleaning). After my daughter got good at that I moved her to the regular toilet with a padded potty seat for her tiny tush. Now she used the regular toilet without any special equipment. Training took a while but I don't think a singing, light-up potty would have made it any better.

I know how you feel. I have a 3 year-old and he gave me a hard time. I tried pull ups with cool alert, and the other brands. Those seem to work on him better than the potty with noises. But he might not be ready, even though you are ready he is not. You could also try putting a Cheerios in the toilet so he can amid it and maybe he will go.

We got my stepson a regular potty- no noises or toys on it- he hasn't started but he's interested. The thing that we liked most about the potty is that once he learns how to use it at his height it can become a step stool to get up to the "big potty". It was really cheap from Target- I think $15.

Just use a cushion on the regular toilet. Kids like to imitate their parents so this is the best way. Also there isn't an extra toilet to clean. Those little kid potty's are so gross!

I thought the one that plays music as a reward would be encouraging but he doesn't care about it at all, it has not helped with the potty training process. The annoying this is is that it is motion sensored so everytime I tell ya EVERYTIME my husband and I have sex and we go into the bathroom to clean ourselves up he walks past the stupid potty and it plays a victory song for him as if to congratulate him for doing such a good job, it's hilarious but annoying after the 100th time!

I raised five children and to the best of my knowledge, each of them had a different one. No bells, whistles, or anything --- just the cheapest Walmart had. They all worked well, and all were totally potty trained well before they were 2 1/2 years old!

my son never liked any kind of potty. He wanted to stand up at the big potty and go pee like dad. I got him a stool to stand on so he could. He did much better with that.
