your son should be ok, but if you are concerned about him being under weight talk to his pediatrician and ask him what should his proper weight be..

Go off of what your child's doctor says first and foremost. Since you and your doctor know what is best for your child.

If you are feeding him a proper diet, and he's readily eating it, then you are doing everything right.

Attempting to increase his weight by giving him more food than he needs, or higher fat containing foods might do more damage than good in the long run. You run the risk of him getting into a habit of over eating, thus running the possibility of obesity for him later.

He might reach a point where his hyperactivity settles down, and then his metabolism will also adjust. He may be one of those people who are forever on the slender side with a high metabolism.

If he's happy and healthy with no signs of malnutrition, then let him be. If others are complaining to you that he's too thin, then they need to mind their own business. You have the knowledge that you're feeding him well, and your doctor approves - that is what matters.

Speak with your son's pediatrician to determine if his weight is appropriate for his age and height. It sounds like he's just very active and burning off a lot of calories.

You can try mixing things with his milk, like Ovaltine or protein powder or Milo... or by mixing it half and half with Toddler formula or Ensure.

Make sure he gets plenty of carbs (pasta, bread, cereal, rice etc) and just keep his diet as varied as he will allow, making sure he gets all the food groups in (sounds like he's doing okay in this area)

Some kids are just destined to be small from burning off everything they consume, but unless he's VERY underweight, I wouldn't worry about it. Underweight is much better than overweight when it comes to being healthy :)

I highly suggest letting him control how much he eats. Small children are really good about knowing when they are hungry. If you feed him when he is not hungry, he will learn to eat despite that natural indicator, and may become an overweight adult. If he is a little small for his age, that is okay, if we all were perfect in size this place would look boring. Don't worry about it unless his doctor is worrying about it, then do what the doctor says.

Your child is going to grow at his own rate. If you are worried hes not recieving proper nutrition you could buy him Pediasure (its a shake for kids with vitamins and extra nutrition). You could also contact a nutritionist for childrens health (pediatric) and have them evaluate your son. Having a slim body even at a young age is healthy though. This allows him to move freely and not be so out of breath (shape) when he wants to play.

At the age of 3 they are very active so my guess is his diet is fine, he will lose some occasionally because he will burn off a lot of the calories, just carry on the way you are going, it will slow down and he will have another growth spurt

I think that's about 26.5 pounds?

My youngest was 27 lbs at her 3 year checkup. I think that's pretty close to where my other two kids were at that age as well.

Does her weight and build reflect that of her parents? As long as she is growing consistently and her body type seems to reflect that of her parents, then I'd say she's probably fine.

Every one is different. As long as his diet is healthy he is just fine. Just keep tabs on his intake and output and offer him healthy snacks.
