She is on the verge of walking and is learning a few new words a day, so I understand if she is too excited to sleep but I wonder...Yesterday she ate more vegetables than usual. Could they have given her gas? We do not let her cry it out (when her cries are full blown, we tolerate tired wimpers). We do have a strong and redular bedtime ritual. She's been sleeping 11 hours a night since 8 months with 2 1.5 hour naps. Now, one 30 inute nap and 9 hours per night. Though, last night she was up at 9, 10, 11, and 2 until we finally decided to bring her into bed...help! Could it have been the veggies??

She has a really healthy diet. She only this week started self feeding veggies. Prior to that, she's been eating the pureed veggies. That was the only way I could get her to eat them. I think it's the veggies and also the excitement of walking. Oh, by the way, my daughter does not eat sugar. Yikes.

Ah, teeth, yes. I think her "fangs" are coming in so I ave her tylenol and hylands. We do not watch TV in front of the baby, so TV is not an issue. She also explorespretty much all day long, expect for when we run a few errands. That's why I narrowed it down to the veggies as it was the only thing that was different. I don;t think that her naps could get any less than one 30 minute nap a day. When she skips naps completely, she is a wreck...

I have an 18mnth old daughter and she passed through many "sleep phases".After the 3th month starting to sleep all night!Exciting! Then she change again(6mnth),starting to wake up 3-4 times during the night and we're looking like "zombies",me and my husband.
Finally a night she slept. The WHOLE night!Miracles do happening!
So from 8month she her sleep regulated.Even with the naps during noon.
Till a month ago.!!!!!!!!!!!!
She wakes every single night between 04:00-06:00.!I give her a bit of milk & she sleeps again.
All these months i tried everything!Been more careful with the food, more amount, less amount, this time that this time the other, earlier to bed, later to bed, going out making her tired, not going out for been relaxed, everything!
I ended up with a conclution. Some babys just have astrong character, an indeepended one & they will act as they please no matter what.Just need,us parents,to be patient & tolarated!

It was like that with my son too, for most of last week. This week however, he has been good with his sleep. I made sure he had lots of activity towards the evening. So I think he's tired enough to sleep.

His naps were increasing from an hour to two. He sleeps for two hours in the morning and again for two hours in the evening. I thought that was causing the late sleeping at night, so I cut short his late evening nap by taking him to the park at that time. He loves playing there and even spends close to an hour in the stroller while I walk. I also gave him cheese on toast for dinner (read that somewhere) which got me started into this routine.
After we get back home, the bath, dinner and sleep is working almost like clockwork.

Try making minor changes to food, but mostly I think she will come back to regular sleeping pattern on her own, especially since it has been a strong habit with her. This is just a one-off deviation I guess. Hope this helps.

Just cut down on them and see. If they were like cabbage, and things that would give gas, that might be. You can give her something for her stomach as per the doctor's orders. Does she say her stomach hurts. She will not need as much sleep as she did when she was younger. The best thing to do is to find out what is normal for this age and ask the doctor about it. He might want to run some tests if this keeps up. But first change her diet and see if that helps. Put some protein with the veggies and see if that helps, and just cut down a bit on the vegetables.

Maybe she has teeth comming in? Molars are still not all in at her age. Maybe she didn't feel good? Was there a T.V. going or something of the sort keeping her up? I wouldn't blame it on vegis. Also out sun rise and fall is starting to change, maybe her body is adjusting early. Make sure she still gets plenty of run around time in the day, maybe a playground. She might also be ready for a shorter daytime nap if she continues to get up during the night.

Its possible, time will answer that one, although it may also be that she is starting to realize she has control over something and is using it. Reinforce bed time with her, a night or two with you isn't going to harm her, but you also need to stand firm, and reinforce her sleeping in her own bed. I suggest starting to let her cry it out a little, say for a couple minutes to start and then gradually let it be longer. When you have to go in, just hold her and say "mommy loves you, and you need your beauty rest" but don't leave her bedroom. This worked for a friend of mine, and her now almost 3 year old is a good sleeper at night.

If she is over eating or having foods that have sugar in it could cause hyperactivity, which could cause they lack of sleep. Just be careful of what you feed her.
