Do you think the alphabet, colors and shapes, counting to ten, and singing a few songs is enough, or should I go further. Should he have letter and number recognition at this age......etc?

I am a new preschool teacher, and in my class I have a set of twins, who do not speak English. BTW, it is an ESL class. They do not interact with anyone else, and are very affectionate with one another. Yesterday, they were kissing during circle time. In line, another teacher said she saw them kissing with their tongues.
My question is, is this "somewhat normal"?
I intend to talk to the mother but would like feedback before this discussion.

my daughter is 14 months old. for two days she barely wanted to eat. she would eat breakfast. but barely ate lunch and hardly wanted more than a bite for dinner. thursday night, i got her to eat a decent meal at 8:30pm. then, she went to bed at 9:15pm.

5 hours later at 1am, she woke up and was having fun trying on new clothes that my mother had bought for her. she woke up when my mother came home, so we let her play a little bit. and i also fed her some milk with a little bit of infant cereal in it. all of the sudden she stops playing and starts whining as if she was hurting and grabbing on to me. i had no idea what was wrong with her and it scared me. as soon as i picked her up, she started heaving. my mother had to hold her over the sink while she threw up all her dinner.

i am wondering why she threw up? was the food bad? she had green beans, peas, a little bit of chicken, a little bit of banana and half of a fig newton. or did she get a stomach bug for a second?

Any ideas??? She loves to sleep with me and I like her to be with me as well but it;s starting to get old, It breaks my heart when she screams though. Even if she falls asleep and I put her in her room, she wakes up around 4am and comes and climbs into bed.

My 3 year old knows how to turn on the computer, double-click on the Internet Explorer icon, then scroll down the address bar to find her own websites (nickjr.com and elmosworld) in order to play her online kids' games. Is this normal/common for a THREE year old? She's been using the computer since she was about 18 months old, when she learned how to move the mouse and click on things.

How many other parents have kids who do/did the same at about this age? Oh, and do you have any other preschool websites to recommend? She's getting bored with those two I just mentioned.

My 2 yr old only knows the word 'no', so i know that he understands what it means, but he refuses to obey by it. he will test your limits and b/c i have been living with my parents for tha past two months, it has been very fustrating. he thinks it's a game sometimes and others...well i don't know. i try spanking (not hard enough to hurt), repeating words like "no", "stop", "don't do that". i am always nice at first (unless it is extreme), then i make my voice more stern and parental. i'm not really his best friend, that may sound bad but i read that it is a mistake to be your child's best friend. i think the problem is with his grandparents...let me explain: for 7 wks, luka was here in KY with my husband's parents (at the time he wanted a divorce and i was a week from delivering our second child) and they let him get away with alot of things. i came back and was the bad mommy. i tried to ask them to respect my rules, but it was no use. what should i do???

Do I have the right to discipline her? Her mother has custody of her and the "dad" just has visitation. They were never married. She and I are married.

My son is 15 months old and he really isn't saying anything yet. He says mom and dad but nothing else. We have heard him say a few words before but he doesn't say them all the time and he really doesn't seem to listen when I try to teach him words. Is this normal or should I be worried?

I have found thatr the three's are far worse than the two's. The two's I can handle. The three's are making me crazy. She does whatever she wants, no matter how much I protest. I feel like I am loosing control of her and I don't know how to stop it. She throws things and hits her little sister. She is constantly bouncing off the walls. But she is only like this with me. She is an angel when her dad is home and she is an angel when she is with my parents. Is anyone else going through this with their three year olds? Could it be because I am a stay at home mom and she is used to me? I do all the same punishments as the rest of the family, it just seems to mean less when it comes from me.

My 20 month old daughter only has one tooth! I've been to a dentist but they have no solutions saying they can't make the teeth come but are sure they can feel them in her mouth. Has any one else faced this problem or have any solutions? She is underweight and I feel she has difficulty chewing all the foods she wants to eat or sees other toddlers eating. There's a lot of food I won't give her because she can't chew though she does pretty good. Any help? Ideas?

For instance while teaching her to ride her bike I tell her to pedal and show her while explaining what to do she says I can't do it. This also goes along with the whole potty training thing. She simply refuses to use the toliet we haven't had any progress at all. She is always telling me she can't do it. Is there something wrong with her confidence, is this a problem? Or do all kids just do this and its a stage that she will get over?

Our DD is 14 mo and was diagnosed with reflux when she was only a couple of months old. She was on meds and would only sleep in an upright position. She woke every two hours until she was 8 months old. Since 8 months old, she has slept 11 hours most nights. The problem is that she will only sleep in her swing. She cannot stand to be horizontal. So, she's growing out of her swing. I am so afraid to start her on a mattress again. I am a stay at home mom and my husband works 80 hours a week. So, when she doesn't sleep, I don't sleep and I have no one to help me the next day. There have nights that I've tried to tough it out and get her to stay on her mattress, but she is tougher than me. When she is determined, she won't sleep no matter how tired she is if she doesn't like where she is. She has stayed up all night and into the next afternoon before. I cannot be a competent mom if I am up for 36 hours straight. First, we tried to ditch the crib and get her a toddler bed. No go. Any ideas?

How do other parents handle their toddler's temper tantrums? My two and a half year old has started having them more frequently and I don't know what to do. She won't respond well to time outs and she has started becoming very difficult if she doesn't get her own way. Thanks.

My daughter will be 3 in about a month. She is my youngest of 3. I didn't have big problems with the other 2. My oldest started at 1 1/2, and was potty trained a little after 2. My second was potty trained at almost 3, but with a lot of accidents. But at least she tried to make it.
My youngest doesn't care if she wets her pants, and then asks to wear diapers when I tell her she should go in the potty so she doesn't wet her pants. She used to get mad even if I'd ask her if she wanted to go in the potty. Now she'll sit on there and try, but has only gone a few times, which I praise her for, and get her all excited. When she wets herself, it seems like she likes it. I've given up on letting her go with no diaper. She likes the idea of wearing underwear like her big sister, but she sounds proud when she tells me she wet them. WHAT DO I DO? I've been changing diapers for 8 years straight, with only a 6 month break before my youngest was born. I'm still trying to let her set the pace though
