I'm with you- I can't stand feeding my daughter a lot of I guess you could call it "unnatural food". I live in Georgia, and well, a lot of parents around her just don't think about what they're feeding their children. My husband's family can't believe I don't let my daughter drink sweet tea or soft drinks in her sippy cup!! (Honestly, a lot of kids around her are going around w/ bottles of sweet tea at 6 months) I don't let my daughter have things like Kool-Aid (my mom, of course, lets her have all the KoolAid-and Oreos-she wants when she's at her house and I'm not around- My mom and I don't agree on what's healthy or good for my daughter)I always try to offer her healthy foods- although, I have to admit, I will let her eat McDonald's food sometimes- but I give her chicken nuggets and apple slices (I figure that's better for her than cheeseburger and fries). A lot of the food I give my daughter is organic, or, if I get things like canned pears or peaches or applesauce, I get the natural or unsweetened kinds.

Yes, that bothered me a great deal too. You should contact the company to air your concerns. Personally, I don't agree that sweetness as a flavor is necessarily artificial - they could put regular sugar in it and that would be "natural." We try to find things that do not have added sugars, but it is definitely an uphill battle. We only used the Graduates for a few months with my daughter...after that, I just made her "real" food so I knew what was going into it. Good luck!

It actually doesn't bother me because i don't think that they consider it artificial, but Gerber has been around for a long time and is good for the baby, I always used gerber foods for my son and he has always been perfectly healthy. But for more info. here are some medical articles about corn syrup:

for any questions or concerns!
I had a bottle of baby food that looked discolored when i opened it so i called to ask, and it turned out that they had the answer right on the phone when i talked to them!

I have been lucky to be able to remain home with my son. Since he is my only child I made all of his food so I knew what was in it. The times I did try commercial foods he would not eat them. They do taste pretty bad compared to fresh food. It's so easy to make your own, just process the foods and freeze in ice cube trays, then store in ziplock baggies. My son is now 6 and he won't touch some of the processed foods that other kids eat such as macaroni & cheese, spaghetti-o's, american cheese. The good thing is that he has a very healthy diet. Oh, don't get me wrong, he does like candy and ice cream but does not eat alot of it. Now I even make my own chicken strip from fresh meat, not the frozen processed nuggets. You can make a whole bunch and freeze them.

That does bother me. We are feeding our children too many simple carbohydrates (sugars). We need to get more complex carbohydrates instead. Have you checked the baby foods at health food or natural food stores. It is also possible to use a blender or juicer to puree table food. The reason we are having problems with type 2 diabetis is because we eat too much sugar. We feed our children sugar at a very young age, and corn syrup is a type of sugar!

A BIG yes there! For a few cents more, if it is available in your area, I would recommend buying "Earth's Best".
Or, make your own. Even though they are convenient containers of food, you would be saving yourself a HUGH amount of money buy buying some plastic wear and making your own.
I used to allocate one day a week and make up a bunch then pop them in the freezer. As I needed them, I would simply take them out and by the time I got to where I was taking baby and I, it would be thawed and ready to eat. Homemade food is certainly a way of making sure that your little one is getting what you want him to eat. Enjoy!

Corn syrup is not exactly artifiical but yes, it is processed and nasty! I suggest trying Annies foods. They have natural versions of canned ravioli, spaghetti-o's etc. Nothing is better then natural homemade food though.

Nope. Hydrogenated oil is a concern for many people, but mostly adults, and if you want to keep it all out of your family diet, you'll go NUTS and BROKE at the same time.
I am willing to bet that you feed him his veggies and fruits, as well as other nutritious foods, so you can relax a bit.

Corn syrup is natural but if you are concerned about additives/ preservatives in the baby food, you would have to be homebaking.

Actually, it doesn't count as artificial - it's basically glucose derived from the starch of corn
