my daughter is 14 months old. for two days she barely wanted to eat. she would eat breakfast. but barely ate lunch and hardly wanted more than a bite for dinner. thursday night, i got her to eat a decent meal at 8:30pm. then, she went to bed at 9:15pm.
5 hours later at 1am, she woke up and was having fun trying on new clothes that my mother had bought for her. she woke up when my mother came home, so we let her play a little bit. and i also fed her some milk with a little bit of infant cereal in it. all of the sudden she stops playing and starts whining as if she was hurting and grabbing on to me. i had no idea what was wrong with her and it scared me. as soon as i picked her up, she started heaving. my mother had to hold her over the sink while she threw up all her dinner.
i am wondering why she threw up? was the food bad? she had green beans, peas, a little bit of chicken, a little bit of banana and half of a fig newton. or did she get a stomach bug for a second?

It sounds like Baby has a Stomache Virus, and a very bad one at that. Her throwing up so much, she probalby is dehydrated(lack of fluids).
You probably should definately go to the ER and get her on an IV. She needs fluids if she does not get them she will get very sick .
Not trying to worry you, just advising.

Since you're worried, and since she's only 14 months old, you should really check with her doctor.
If she has had a virus over the last few days there's the chance that the peas, green beans, banana and (especially) fig newton were too much for her to eat after she's been sick. So often if someone vomits once they can either fight off more by not eating or eating only something bland and in a small amount; or else if they eat they may vomit again.
If someone has an intestinal virus it doesn't usually just make them vomit. They get "upheaval" in their bellies and sometimes get diarrhea.
She may not have gotten a second stomach bug. She may not have been over the first one, and the food was way too much. Its also possible she doesn't have a bug but maybe the milk was turned a little.
When people have a stomach bug they don't always just vomit and vomit until its done. Sometimes they vomit once, feel better, and later get gradually nauseous. The sick feeling builds up until the person feels hot and really sick. They vomit, get cold, feel better. The whole thing may build again (or not). If she's got a virus the milk (even if its good) will make her sick.
You should talk to your doctor if she isn't any better tomorrow. Viruses aren't supposed to last more than a couple of days. You may want to call and ask what foods/drink you should give her over the next few days. Very often when someone has been sick, they may feel better but not quite like eating everything.
If it were me, I wouldn't give her any more vegetables, chicken or (certainly) fig newtons for a few days. Watch fruit juices too. She may even be better off with some really weak Kool Aid or other "junk drink" that is watered down. If she can drink milk without problems, great. If she can't, though, she needs to drink something "weak".
Check with your doctor's office, though.

Chances are that not too much is wrong - she may have a bug - but it might be worth getting your daughter in to her pediatrician. Or, if your health coverage includes advice nurses available around the clock on the phone, give one of them a call.
One thing to watch out for is whether she gets dehydrated, and whether she can keep fluids down. The last time we went through something like this with our kid, we were told to get concerned if we didn't see one diaper full of urine every eight hours.
Also keep an eye on her for other signs that she really is sick - things like being cranky, having a lower activity level and acting listless. See if she feels hot to the touch, and if so, try taking her under-the-armpit temperature. Those types of things will give you a feel for whether she has some sickness in progress or whether the vomiting was kind of an isolated incident.
Also, is she showing signs of teething, like chewing her fingers, drooling, having an elevated temperature? Some kids get a little pukey with that.
Hopefully this will all clear up in a day or so. Best of luck!

It sounds like a stomach virus. She could become dehydrated, but may or may not need an IV. I suggest taking her to your pediatrician. Vomiting is NOT normal and can be very dangerous for a baby or child. Your pediatrician will probably put her on a special diet and either over the counter meds or prescription meds. The pediatrician might also recommend Pedialyte or another substance that has electrolytes. You do need to take her to a pediatrician and follow the diet that is prescribed.

It seems to me that she has a virus. Monitor her and see how is she in the morning. Or if she gets worse tonight go to the ER. Children are very fragile when it comes to vomiting and diarrehea bc they can got dehydrated very easily. make sure to keep giving her fluids. here are some things to watch out for, if they occur get to the ER ASAP:
lethargy
not able to hold ANYTHING down
sleeping a lot
eyes are sunken or have severe dark circles
bloated stomach
fever above 102
not to scare you, but my oldest went through something similiar. she had been vomiting a lot and screaming in pain, i repeatedly took her to the ER only to have them say its a stomach virus. well when she took a turn for the worse one day i took back to the ER and demanded that they do tests. and come to find out her liver had swollen. by this time she was severely dehydrated. she was in the hospital for about 5 days. not to say that is happening with your little one, but as a parent we have to be the ones on the look out for those things bc our kids can't always tell us exactly whats going on with them. I hope your little one gets to feeling better soon!

I would call the doctor. Keep giving her fluids so she doesn't dehydrate and you should never put cereal in your baby's milk. It isn't good for them that way. It's better if they eat the cereal separately and have just regular milk. Good luck! I have a 20 month old and would have called the doctor first thing Friday morning.

Kids that age often thrown up, my neice is 4 and has always thrown up nearly every day. She could have had a stomach bug, maybe something didn't agree with her, maybe she ate too much, maybe she chocked, as long as she is ok now and has no temperature she will probably be ok, but if she keeps being sick take her to a doctor.
