I have some friends who have 4 kids. 3 are from the wife's previous relationship (father is not involved) and a newborn daughter together who is on a heart moniter and was tiny (4 pounds) at birth 3 weeks ago. They let her 6 year old sister and 4 year old brother feed the baby UNSUPERVISED.....I walked in to find (at 11pm) the 6 year old holding the bottle for baby in the carseat (needless to say I took the baby and made the 6 year old go to sleep) and they let the 4 year old brother feed her on the floor while dad laid on the couch out of view of the baby and mom was on the computer out of view of the baby while milk squirted out of the babies nose. I said something to them and they said they are trying to make the older 2 feel involved. How do I talk to them about all the dangers of this?

2 weeks ago, my son had a slight fever with runny nose. it only lasted 2 days. I gave him some tylenol cold and he was ok. Since that time, he has had a runny nose and developed a slight cough this week. I have given him dimetapp everytime I see his symptoms come back, (which is once a day). The worst of his runny nose and cough seems to be when he wakes up in the morning, and right after his bath at night. During the day, the runny nose and coughing stops (pretty weird to me)

I dont want to give him anymore cold medicine, because I know it only makes him feel better, not cure the virus. The cold does not seem to bug him, except for his nose dripping. So, is it time I take him to the doctor? (I have taken him before and all they tell me to give him meds to make him feel better) or any other suggestions? Also, in your opinion, would you think he needs the flu shot?

Im 25 years old and my two older brothers are 30 and 31. My father is now in his early 50s and remarried and has a four year old and one on the way. Growing up my father handled us very well. We were always well behaved in public and never acted out and had great manners or he disciplined us other wise. We knew better to talk back and yell. We respected our parents. My little brother is four and he acts like a complete spoiled brat and my father rarely disciplines him. It's almost hard to swallow. My brother is very smart but out of control. He throws major tantrums in public daily and even hits my dad and my father never really reacts. When I ask him why he allows this he say's "Im old now. Im too tired to chase kids down and argue. I did my share of spankings with you guys." WE were made to be respectful and now his younger son is out of freaking control b/c of lack of discipline. Has anyone ever expericed this? Is this normal? Thank you for all your kind answers!

Is it considered rape if a 16 year old girl has sex with a twenty-four year old but she did not fight back or say she did not want to have sex? If it is rape is it considered wrong just because the law says it is or is it overall just wrong and why?

My wife and i change or daughters diaper about every two hrs but she will let us know or we can smell if she needs to change in between. A friend of ours just had a baby we were going out and we allways change her right before we leave so she has a fresh diaper before hand we asked her if she wanted her daughter changed. She said no she only changes her ever 4hrs because diaper are to expensive. Even if she has a poop she waits until it has been 4hrs. I think that is crazy and the baby will get diaper rash (my daughter has never had diaper rash in 16 months) She says we change our daughter to often. I think she is the weird one

My sister in law gave birth 2 weeks ago, she doesn't breastfeed through choice. Ok, so it's not the way I'd do it either, I breastfed my son, but why do so many women act so horrified and shocked at this? It's personal choice, right?

My four-year-old has become a little hellion virtually overnight. We're having a very hard time finding the cause: he thinks it's funny, he's not going through any adjustment or changes that I can figure out, but he was doing really really good up to about two or three weeks ago, then has started having huge temper tantrums (something he never did before), telling his teachers "no", running away when they tell him to come over, etc.

Today, there was a note in his cubby that he was taking other kids' belongings and putting them in his cubby, covering them with his blanket and change of clothes.

We're doing the best we can to find a method of discipline that will effect him.

I'm not interested in hearing your opinions on how we should make it stop, your opinions about whether spanking is right or wrong, or anything like that.

I could just really use some encouragement right now. Do you know anyone who was awful as a preschooler and grew up to be kind and conviction-free?

I know, we all do some variation of the following: fruit, candy, socks, chonies, stickers, cars for boys, jewelry/makeup for girls, 99cent store trinkets. But I'm hoping to snag some truly unique ideas from you guys. YES I KNOW IT'S EARLY, but the Spirit starts early around here. So what's your best stocking stuffer idea? Thanks!

Just wondering if any other new moms (or moms in general) go through this! Its not post partumn (I have talked to mine and his doctors about it). I am all around happy. Sometimes I just find myself worrying if I am doing a good job. And I worry about my child growing up in this world, and what I can do to help him be a good person. I also find myself lying awake at night with thoughts just running through my head. Has anyone else gone through this? How do you get your mind back on the postive track. I reall just want to make sure i am doing everything in his best interest. (new mom, can you tell, lol)

Ok, my parents gave away my dress I got from my girlfriend. I am a boy that does wear girl clothes but I am not gay. I'm really pissed because it was pretty special to me and she spent alot of money on it! My parents said that they'll keep giving away all of the girl clothes until I stop and even than they'll give the clothes to my cousin. So what if I wear girl clothes?! That's the whole reason i'm so popular in school is because I went across the border line and I did what I wanted to do even if I would get riddiculed!
What should I do??!!

My daughter is almost to preschool age. I am just wondering if it's still like it was when I was in school (I graduated 6 years ago), do the clothes you wear, the brand and the "in" clothes still determine a kids popularity in school? Has it gotten worse? I remember that when I was in school, if you didn't wear the right clothes, then you were an outcast pretty much. Luckily, I had older cousins who gave me their clothes when they outgrew them and they were all designer labels, and when I turned 15, I started working full time to afford my own clothes. I'm just worried about my daughter not fitting in. I don't want her wardrobe to be the cause of her not having friends in school - I 'm worried because I know that my husband and I could never afford name brand clothes for our kids (walmart & target is more our price range...lol). So parents out there of kids (elementary, junior high) do clothes still determine a child's popularity? Thanks!

No one has been in her life since her dad left a couple of years ago. She has never seen anyone with her mum since then and possibly cant remember her dad since she was only two when he left. I get on really well with the child, and vise versa, but my girlfriend could use some advice on how to approach the subject!

Any help with this would be most apreciated.

I'm 17 years old, female, 5'5 and I weigh 115lbs

When school started in September I weighed 135lbs. Two weeks ago the doctor weighed me and I was 124lbs. I haven't tried to lose weight and I don't want to lose any more weight but I'm simply not hungry. I'm exhausted all the time and can sleep for 12-18hrs a day every night/day when before I could only sleep 8hrs a night.

I'm not depressed, in fact I'm happier right now than I have been for awhile and I'm still very social. I've only made three changes since the summer, I've started eating meat again, I quit smoking cigarettes and I dont smoke weed very often anymore.

I'm very weak and haven't been exercising very much because I don't have the energy to. I have next to no appetite anymore, I can eat an apple and be full for the entire day.

My mom doesn't believe me that I'm just not hungry and is always yelling at me. She interogated me last night and I had no idea how to respond. How can I get my mom to believe me?

I have a friend who continually leaves her nine year old girl home alone so she can work. Her husband has a steady first shift job and she works three jobs...she's a realtor (new to the business so the pay hasn't really taken off yet and she only gets commission), another job that calls her when she needs her during the day, and she works part-time nights four days a week. I don't know how she does it, but her daughter gets left in the dust.

Anyway...there's teacher's convention today and tomorrow and her Grandma was supposed to come and get her this morning. An hour and a half later, she texts me and says that she's "really scared...Grandma isn't here yet....I hate bening home alone". I asked her if she could call her Grandma to see if she's on her way. She told me "No, Mom and Dad only have cell phones so I can't call anyone." God...what if something serious happened and she needed to dial 911?? I'm tempted to report my friend as I really feel for her daughter.
