my daughter will be turning 1 in nov. and i'm at a loss for bday and christmas presents too.
she loves to take things out and put things back in so i got her a cookie jar with toy cookies she can take out and put in.
i got her one of those little play houses with the door and mailbox she can crawl in and out of and play with the toys on it.
she loves baby dolls so i got her a water baby, its small enough for her and soft enough for her to chew on or throw around.
she has these already but she LOVES leggos and blocks.
and big toy cars to push around (girly ones though)
well thats all i got good luck and have fun shopping
oh yeah and she also got that big fisher price train set, that comes with the animals she LOOOVES that at my moms so i am getting her that for cmas.

I guess since they are too little to understand what is going on I have bougth to my 7 & 3 yrs old in the past and plan to do the same with my 9 month baby.. Buy clothes that will usuallu do during this time and on summer and only 2 toys that will call their attention appropriate for their age.. 1 stuff toy that will say my first Christmas .. I wrap all the presents and take them pictures with all the presents under the Christmas tree so they can have a memory from that time because they will not remember maybe what was going on.. For my 9 month old I am planning on buying maybe a musical table , a walker since soon she will be starting to walk , a stacker,a tune piano, or something fun that can be found in the infant section and that will be useful for her.. SO good luck finding anything for your little ones..Hope I help a little in your ideas to buy something for them !!! Best wishes:)

you will have plenty of toys and clothes brought for you from family and relatives being babies first christmas, So i reccomend that you keep your presents minimal this year and insteadof spending all the money save it and you could put it up in a savings fund or save it for a rainy day. Kids allways have loads too much at xmas and birthdays so you might as well just use the money for another toys where she would benfit them a lot more.

to be perfectly honest a 1 year old baby will be none the wiser - so get something small - wooden building blocks with letters and piccy's on- educational - lots of fun and - cheap - and invest a bit of money in a long term account for your baby for his/her future - trust me i wish i had done this but now they're grown up and don't have all the toys i spent a fortune on when they were babies it is too late.

your baby will have more fun looking at the Christmas lights and playing with mummy and daddy than any expensive present could give him/her.

i am not buying much as my LO is one xmas eve.

I have asked friends and family for specific items though.

Learning box from Mothercare, £ 30. It looks great.

They do not know much at this stage but everything helps, my son is getting fed up of his little toys now, hence my decison to go for the learning block.

I'm interested in what people say. Mine will be 10 months at Christmas and I have no idea what to get her. She won't understand what is going on.

i would give something special even thought they wouldnt appreciate it as much as if they were older but it would mean something to them and you when there older especially as it would be there first christmas and also something entertaining that will keep them happy.
or why not make a video of there first christmas thats what my mum did for my first birthday and i used to watch it over and over again its a perfect gift
