My 2 yr old daughter has been staying 45 mins away at my mother's house. She is there with her grandparents, her great grandma, her great grandaunt, her aunt, and her 2 cousins. (it's a big house). They are out in the country. I live in the city where I just got a promotion at a really good job and am about to take classes to get my degree in business management. I have my own 2 bdrm apt. Sometimes my daughter comes on the weekends but sometimes i work on wkends. Her father wants to be with me but i choose not to because we've been off and on for almost 4 yrs in an unhealthy relationship. Recently he made me feel like crap about her being with my parents. It was my parent's idea though. They say she needs stability and not to be around us arguing and that it saves me money on childcare right now. My daughter should be able to stay with me for good by Christmas. Am I doing the right thing? I feel blessed to have such wonderful parents, but is this good for her?

A friend of mine just called me up venting and angry about a Department of Children and Families case worker. I suppose I'll start from the beginning, a couple months ago a couple got angry at my friend's neighbors (these neighbors are her aunt, Clare, and her aunt's boyfriend, Rick) because they drive quads in the yard and don't like it. There is nothing this couple can do because the yards connecting the two homes are both privately owned and that is where Rick rides his quads. One day while I was there this couple started a huge fight with Clare and Rick. No more than a week later my friend had this lady dragging her three year old daughter up to the door and stated that she had been in the road. My friend had been watching from the window, her child never came close to the road but was at the end of the yard picking flowers off a tree. Despite this the woman called DCF, a worker came out spoke to my friend, her parents, her aunt, her cousin, myself, and a couple other friends.

I know the "It sounds good to say answer" is yes, but are you really okay with someone correcting your child? I'm fine with it especially when I'm not around. I do believe it takes a village......

CPS gets involve when a mother beats her kids & neglects them just to go get drunk and party. The kids get taken away and place in foster homes. The mother keeps having kids by different guys and don't even know who the daddy is to them all. Well, she puts the 1st baby daddy on child-support when she finds out that the guy is the daddy afterall after guessing if he was or not. Well, when she gets introuble she doesn't say who the daddy is but is quickly about putting the guy on child-support. Well, the gurl has to do all this & that in order to get her kids back. The Dr. even said the kids were in danger if placed back. CPS don't care about the kids since 90% of them aren't parents and just rather care about the money & say they better off w/ the mother. After 2yrs they give up cuz the kid is better off at the kid's father's place. The other kids end up going back. The gurl has another baby. What is she teaching her daughters??? To get laid, have kids, don't work, live off of welfare.

I work in a dental office and part of my job is to review treatment plans that we have given to patients, that have not yet been completed and to try to contact them to encourage them to get started on their dental work. I am amazed at all the treatment plans that I am coming across that are for children. Some of these kids have 7-8 large cavities and there parents haven't brought them back in to have the work done. I am hoping that the parents simply took the kids somewhere else to do the work, mabye somewhere cheaper. But one child's treatment plan that I came across was for a child who I actually remembered. The mom brought her in and said that the child had been living with her father, who had neglected her teeth. The child was only about 9 and had a huge cavity in an adult molar, and it was abcessed, and had numerous other cavities in her mouth. My dentist felt bad for the child, and offered to do the rootcanal for free. The mother never made an appointment for the child.

We are having a new baby and my son is pretty excited [from what I gather] about it already. He'll be two in February and the new baby is due in May.

He's in a few playgroups with younger children and already understands the idea of 'gentle' and 'please share.' I always try to make him feel special by telling him since he's older he gets to show all the younger kids how to behave, share, and play with the cool toys. I try to make it as much about HIM as possible. He's really good around the younger kids.

I'm also getting him pumped about the new baby by telling him about his new big bed. [He's in a convertible crib that's now a toddler bed.] I'll tell him about teaching the new baby all the cool things he already knows how to do. He’s my ‘big helper’ and always will be. He’s very independent for his age.

So, how did you prepare your first for the new baby? How did your first child react? What else can I be doing to make sure he is comfortable with it?

Thanks!!

the person who witnessed it is refusing to report it. The person won't report it, because they don't want to get the family member in trouble, and they are also afraid of the government trying to take the children away from the family. Is there something I could do in this situation to intervene for these little children, even though I don't live in the same state as them and I haven't witnessed the abuse and neglect myself?

My son is 2 and 1/2, he seems to suffer from what I think is mild anxiety, and he is very obsessive compolsive with things. If we are out anywhere, he wants to go home, when he says words, he never just says them once he says then around 5 to 10 times, If something goes wrong he is easily frustrated and squeels, he lines his cars up in a perfect line and will stare at them from every angle, he will then one by on turn them around and hen study them from that angle, he is a pretty goo easy kid most of the time but theese things are worrying me. Is this common in young children? Would you take your child to a doctor about this behavour?

And for those of you who are still under the rule of your parents, What is the ONE thing that they do, that you don't plan to do when you become a parent?

And if you don't plan on having kids, What is the ONE thing that parents do that drive you up the wall?

OK here it goes the father of my baby is talking about signing over his rights and the guy i am with now wants to be in the room when i have the baby. The bio-father called me the other day and he is going to be back from iraq when i have the baby and wants to be in the room but he keeps telling me that is not going to change anything he is going to sign the rights over to my soon to be husband in about 2 weeks. the baby is due in 6 weeks. If he is going to sign the rights over then why does he want to be in the room with me. He has a wife and she is not happy about this. I think she is more mad because i am having a girl and she has two boys by him and she knows he always wanted a girl. Anyways my soon to be husband is going to be in there for sure. What about the bio-father what do u think i should do??

Hi. I have a question about my daughter. She is 10 years old and I believe that her breasts may be "budding". However, you can only see them occationally (kinda like when a person's nipples are erect and you can see them through a shirt), but I'm pretty sure that they're not just erect nipples because they appear to be a bit wider and almost softer looking than erect nipples. But what confuses me is that they will go away after about a minute, just like erect nipples do, and she will look completely flat-chested again. What is this? The onset of puberty or just erect nipples? Also, what occurs first, the growth of pubic hair or the growth of breasts?

I'm separated from my husband of 3.8 years for five mos now. He decided to walk out on us to live a single life. We have 2 children together (boy-2yrs and a girl-almost 3 mos old). He was unfaithful and gave me and our daughter (unborn at the time) an STD (already cured). Doesn't care that he left wife and kids. Doesn't even call to know how they are. Says right now he can't help me to send money to financially support them b/c he doesn't have money. (he only works as a detailer and his income is not steady.) I filed child support but don't really know if they'll get anything b/c he has 5-6 other cases open. I pray and try to not be bitter, but I know I have to be civil for the kids. Cuz I do want them to have a relationship with their father. But right now it seems like he is not interested. How do I handle this?

My daughter is 16 and we are pretty open in our discussions. She understands the birds and the bees and while I've stressed that abstinence is the best policy, I also discuss that if things do happen, it absolutely better be with a condom. She has told me some of her friends have lost their virginity, and I figure she will too, eventually. She's not seeing anyone so I think we're safe for now, but how can I make sure she is protected when the time comes?

She's asked me what my reaction would be if she came to me and asked for a condom, and I really don't know. The thought sort of makes my stomach churn - she's still my baby - but the alternative is worse. I want her to feel like she can come to me and ask but I also don't want to know. Is there a way to make sure there are condoms available without actually giving them to her and tacitly condoning sex? I'm sort of stuck here and need some advice.

Please no bible preaching. I would like to hear from parents who have experienced this.
