...and got into a bit of a debate, which is insane, since A.) we're not even married yet and B.) we don't even have a child, but whatever. She thinks that growing up watching tv didn't do us any harm, but...I don't know. I think if I had a child, I'd cut out all TV for him (or her) except for Discovery Kids, Animal planet, the Travel channel, and maybe some old shows like The Brady Bunch, The Cosby's, etc. What do you think?

Ok... First off I am 15. Everyone my age looks at porn, etc. And so do I.

Well to start of our 'story' my Dad was going through my computer to try and fix it, and he found all my porn sites. But he was totally cool with it! I asked him; "So...Am I in trouble for this?" he just said, "no... Why would you be..." He was cool about it and I respect that. But is that normal? I mean im 15...

Just wondering what you think of it. =)

It's a cold, rainy day here & my kids were bored, so I let them color on each other with washable markers.

It all washes off easy, and it provides some fun temporary entertainment.

This is for a short story I'm doing.

Nothing really OBVIOUS like "I love you." but other things. I'm not a parent yet, so I'm not sure what to put in my short story.

Nothing silly or joking like, "Good luck, kid. See ya in 4 years! Don't drink too much"

I want sentimental things. And no copy and pasted lyrics of Carrie Underwood's "Don't Forget To Remember Me."

Thanks all!

My office is located just below that of a Pediatritian. Because there are moms coming in and out with their kids, I am accustomed to seeing mothers bring their sons into the bathroom with them, as they are generally too young to go unaccompanied.

Just a couple of minutes ago, I was in the ladies room, and when I opened the stall door, a young boy who was at least 10 years old went walking past me. His mother was standing by the sink waiting for him.

My question is, isn't that a bit too old for you to be bringing your son with you into the ladies room? He was clearly old enough to use the men's bathroom on his own.

...like the ones you find at Wal-mart. I think that the costumes they have for older children are cheaply made and over priced. Do you agree or disagree?

My son's friends asked my so to go trick or treating as a groups, I thought it will be fun, as a curtersy I asked my friend who's a devoted Christian if she want to let her kids to go with them. She said don't be tempted by the devil's way?then she questioned my parenting style ( now I'm mad at her) why are they so anal, don't they know how hard it is to keep children in the house on that day when they see all other kids are out and about?

I'm only 16 but i babysit 1-4 times a week for a family that has 3 kids (2 boys ages 6 and 3, and a 2 yo girl). I've noticed some things in their family that when i have a family of my own, I don't want in my family. Like the kids, all day, it's nothing but "Wiggles, Dora, Einstiens, Backyardigans, Doobies", all they want to do is watch tv. Personally, despite how "educational" it is, I don't think little kids need tv. I've concluded to myself, that my kids are not gonna watch tv until they are 4 years old (after that 30 min a day). all educational things should be from the parents, not the bube tube. there's nothing the tv can teach them, that i can't. and no candy until they are 5 (and after that only once a month will they have it) . i'm not gonna buy candy or junk food. they'll all be eating food thats good for them. thirdly, the parents cook something for themselves and the kids just eat chicken nuggets every night. hold on, typing....

I went to a cemetery with some distant relatives to visit the family plot. One family brought their elementary aged children and did not prevent them climbing up and jumping off of headstones and generally running amok. I found this to be disrespectful. What do you think?

when i'm doing my chores, my 2 yo bro and 3 yo sis always tag along and help me. they call it playing games. where they got that from, i don't know. but everyday when i pick them up from daycare, it's "let's play games, let's play games", leading me to the laundry room. so i let them help me, it takes longer, but they enjoy it. we put the laundry basket in the middle of us, and pick up the clothes one by one as they take them to their designated baskets (lights, darks, jeans and dark towels, delicates, bleach, etc.). then we load the 3 washers and they know how to set it to go (i do the soap though). when we get inside they enjoy sweeping, helping me cook dinner, cleaning the bathroom, unloading/loading the dishwasher. they don't play with their toys, they just want to clean "play games" all day. Maddy has been begging me to teach her how to vacuum, and Simon hates it when the room he shares with baby Kaden is a mess. He will go in a frenzy and won't stop until it's clean. typing.....

i get in trouble almost every day, for talking, chewing gum, very small pranks, talking back to the teacher, getting on the internet during class, sometimes skipping class, you know minor stuff like that at school, bigger stuff at home likie sneaking out, old fire crackers in mailbox thing with friends, but nothing bad like sex, drinking, drugs, etc. my mom said if i don't shape up, stay out of trouble, and get my grades up, she's gonna take me out of school the end of this semester and put me in some kind of online school. the big stuff like the firecrackers and junk, i can quit doing, no biggie. but at school, the teachers know i get detention every day, so they just look for ways to give me one. even if i try to be good they find something wrong with me like how i'm dressed, one gave me a detention for wearing a hat, and the like. so with 4 of them, how do i stay out of trouble at school?

This is just a general question that's been on my mind for a while. Where have we as parents gone so wrong that we now have to rely on "Nanny 911" or "Super Nanny" to help raise our kids? Generations past have just gotten on with it and raised their kids without having to resort to books and tv. Never before have we had such an ill-behaved, spoiled and bratty generation growing up around us. What's changed in your opinion?
Keep in mind that I'm not criticizing anybody..I'm just looking for all thoughts and opinions.
My husband says that in years past all members of a family helped raise a child..meaning parents, grandparents, extended family, etc. Perhaps the break-down of the family unit is to blame. I think too many parents want to be their kids' friends instead of parents.

My wife and I have decided that we are not comfortable with anyone babysitting our 4.5 mo old daughter. We are not sure when or if we will change our minds on this and it has really upset my parents. My wife used to work with sexually abused children before quitting to become a mom / housewife which I am sure has impacted our decision on this. I am afraid this will impact my relationship with my parents. Any advice?

My husband had a child 7years ago with a girl. We have my stepson 4days a week, she has him 3, Tue, Wen, Thr, not the weekends! She has to party. She has anther son by anther guy, he has custody, but she gets the kid a few days a week. That guy gives her money to help her out. She just had anther baby by anther guy, well she is still testing guys to find the Dad but she thinks she knows who it is. She is 30 & has never worked a day in her life. She feels a Mom should be home with her kids, I’m all for that if she was home with the kids! So she was never married to my hubby, we have no custody agreement, We pay for everything, she has brought us receipts for $6 before b/c she wanted to buy him something & felt we should pay. We cover all medical, school, anything and everything. In our state it’s 50/50 if we have him 50% of the time. We have him more so technically she should be paying us! BUT she has been demanding that we pay her support! What do you think we should do?
