Before you had kids, was there something you believed about parenting that went completely out the window after you had your child(ren)?

For example, I used to think my mom was overexhaggerating when she would say we got loud every time she picked up the phone, but now that I have kids of my own, I understand that this really is a true mystery of having children..

One of my friends has 3 children (5 and under). She is on the hunt for a wagon that will hold at least two of them but all three would be great. It would be for times that they are out and the kids get tired of walking. It could also be a wagon built for two with the option of attaching another wagon to the back for another child. Either way works.

So if you know of one please post the link so I can send them to her. She is having issues finding them in stores around where she lives so she asked me to look around online for her. I decided to ask the parents of Yahoo answers if they know of good ones.

Thanks!

Mainly mothers, fathers too can answer.

Im not a parent myself, far from one. But would you allow your 16 yr old daughter to talk on the phone with her best guy friend 1 am and like 3 am. for hours at a time? And she gets good grades, isnt bad, nothing to worry about. But would you approve of that, and your not paying for the hours talked because free minutes, but the phone bill you are.

I know my fears are inappropriate and well I am a long way from this because my daughter is to young to even know what girl scouts is much less ask to be in it. With that said I don't want my daughter going off to camp especially really young. As a teen or pre teen maybe. I am afraid of child molesters and what not in the groups. I know the chances are low but there is still a chance. I want to know if and when the time comes can she join but not go on the weekend trips. Also are dads aloud to go or just moms

My ex husband was recently arrested in wichita falls texas with 107 punds of narcotics and cindy piper of the wichita falls child protective services gave his felon mother(a woman busted with 900 pounds of narcotics and who just recently got released from prison after ratting out the mafia!!!!) my kids. He has the police and CPS in his pocket and even though the FBI knows he and his mother are felons they will not help get my kids back. I am a baptized member of a great church and the only reason I lost my kids was due to his drug money and a setup accident he and his cronies staged while I was helping reroof the home of a single mother of three kids there while my ex husband was supposed to be watching them. (He got busted with 30,000 in cash a short while ago). How do I compete with that, I develop pictures and had to flee to another state to escape his abuse. My kids are in danger at his mother Rosario De La Cruz's home in Wichita Falls Texas. No one will help me........Can you?

And you walked in on her sleeping in bed next her boyfriend of 2.5 years in the morning. He is 18, she is 17. You know they have been sexually active for about 6 months, and before they did they came to you and your spouse asking for advice, and you knew they where going to do it anyway so you let your daughter get on birth control to be safe. You know your daughters boyfriend loves and respects her and they are in a very serious relationship. You like the guy and would never charge him with stagitory rape bc you like him, and he was honest about what him and your daughter where going to do and they did come to you for advice about it. He stays at your house because his parents kicked him out when he turned 18, and hes staying there untill he finishes college. he pays you rent, and has his own room that he usually stays in, but this morning he happened to be in your daughters room sleeping next to her and it caught you off gaurd. would you say something, or just let it go?

I'm putting together a humorous speech about being a young parent for a college class revealing the "ugly truths" of having kids at an early age.. for example:

"If it looks like peanut butter, smells like peanut butter, and feels like peanut butter... It might not be peanut butter."

What are some of the "Golden Rules" you've learned about being a parent that I might be able to incorporate into my speech?

Thanks!

I have a three year old step son who calls me "mama", and his biological mom is ticked because of this. I didn't ask him to call me this, and originally he called me by my first name, but has since started calling me "mama". I don't want to tell him to call me my name if he wants to call me "mama". I am one of his mothers, so whats the deal? What is your opinion?

I was just reading an answer someone wrote and they said if you aren't married you shouldn't have kids. I think that is BS. I'm not married and am in a commited relationship of 4 1/2 years and we are expecting our first child this March. Why do so many people sterotype against those of us who have kids but aren't married. Although I'm not married my relationship is probably better then a lot of those that are. Why do you need a ring to make it "okay" as long as you are in a stable relationship and have a lot of love and trust?? I'm open to hear opinions from both sides.

At what age should I talk to them about sex (I have one boy and one girl). How should I go about it? I think I want to be completely open with them - so they get factual information before they get wrong information from a friend. I hear all the time about how kids appear to be losing their virginity earlier, so I am concerned about waiting too long - so how young should I talk to them about it?

I have a six year old who refers to her genital area as her "bottom". I realized that I've never really given her a word to use. I don't want it to be some big mystery to her, but obviously at six she doesn't need a detailed anatomy and biology lesson. I don't want to say "vagina" because technically that's what's inside and don't want a cutesy euphemism . Do any of you moms have any suggestions? My mom just avoided the whole subject with me (I definitely don't want to do that!) so I'm a little stuck. Thanks!

I wasn't sure why but I asked my grandfather and he said because the new trend was that preteens and young teens are starting to get pregnant more often. Do you agree or have a different opinion. I think that it's too young unless the parent really askes for it. Sides most kids in my schoo when we were in middle school were too busy with sports, homework, etc to think about sex so that's why.

Please give me your opinion, this is for a College research... out of 30 topics I believe this one is the most interesting one. Any ideas for a visual project about this topic? WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT THIS ISSUE? In my opinion divorce affect children more than affects the [parents. How you compromise the pain that divorce causes on a kid? What are the biggest mistakes that parents do? Spoiled them to much after a separation? Or... just "my mom lets me and you don’t" the biggest issue?

Everyone has heard the the child safety advice of "don't talk to strangers" however, it occurs to me that children need to learn and be comfortable with appropriate social ettiquette such as asking for assistance is stores, ordering food in restaurants, making small talk and being generally polite to people. I'm concerened that making children fear people they do not know could cripple their growth toward independence in the long run. Would teaching children how to appropriately talk to strangers be a better idea? What do others think about this topic?

I have had a late night call to go away and solve yet another Family "crisis" and once again I get resentment from my Grandsons' Mother about it being "short notice" when I only just got the news and at the same time she says I could have 'phoned this morning not late last night when I have to travel early and that would have meant even shorter notice!
Anyhow just to say there is no need for anyone to post any messages about me pretending to be concerned about where I am because I have just told you - I am away looking after my Family so there's no need for those that I blocked to use another question to continue the assault on me like in the first link I gave in this question -

http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/?qid=20071028174633AACoL7J

But if you want to : clone and moan away - my *Family* are more important to me as the "Best Answer" that I have just chosen in the above linked question has pointed out.
Have fun.
Best wishes,
Joan.

I have a nanny job taking care of two disabled brothers and the parents both work. They are almost $2,000 behind in paying me. I want to quit, but feel bad because the boys really need someone that will treat them good. The oldest one is autistic and severe ADHD and the youngest cannot walk, or talk..they are still doing testing to find out what is wrong. I know they have a lot of medical debt, but I cannot afford to keep working for them. I am really torn as to what to do. My husband and I are having to borrow money to keep our power from being shut off. I know if I quit they will do the same thing to the next person. I found this job through craigslist. Should I post an ad on there saying they should not work for this couple because of payment problems? I hate to do this, but I would hate to have someone else get taken in by them.

I enjoy how different my two girls are in personality and also their unbelievable simularities. It reminds me of how unique and individual children are. Got any stories to share on siblings simularities and differences?

My eldest HATES tomatoes and my youngest LOVES them - in fact eats them like an apple!
