Before you had kids, was there something you believed about parenting that went completely out the window after you had your child(ren)?

For example, I used to think my mom was overexhaggerating when she would say we got loud every time she picked up the phone, but now that I have kids of my own, I understand that this really is a true mystery of having children..

The one thing everyone told me (even well seasoned mothers!)... make sure you take time for yourself!!!

Yeah! Right!!

I don't even have a chance to go to the bathroom by myself! I can't think of the last time I read a book without pictures in it! I love to take walks but it's not the same pushing a stroller. Go to the gym?? Yeah... ok. I may end up divorced with the way our son screams and carries on when I walk out the door! You know it's bad when you look at your husband and go, "Are you ready to go night-night?"

Sorry!! Just venting! I love my son and there's very little I would change... well... maybe the ability to have a clean shirt for more than 5 minutes!

NOTHING is the same. There is no more me. I'm a meany, and most of the time "meanie" is my name. LOL I love that my mom used to say when I had kids I'd understand. Boy do I ever! It's the hardest job that you love. I wouldn't trade it, but man what a wake up (for the rest of my life) HA! I also thought MY kids would listen. what a joke. LOL

Lol@ phone...isn't that the truth!

What went out the window with me was that I didn't want my kids to have TV in their room.....now they all do! I had this vision of all of us hanging out, talking, reading, playing music and games...all without TV. While we do have nights like that, I secretly love the nights that they all run off to watch a TV show in their room....the house gets soooo quiet....

That it was easy to get babysitters.

Also that those people with screaming kids in the store were horrible parents.

Definitely, when I was young, my parents always say I waste money, and would never allow me to buy stuff, and I always say when I have kids, I'll buy them everything they want, but now I nagged to my kids about wasting money. lol

I was told you would never pee in peace! I thought as if i can go to the toilet. But no, my two girls ( 3 & 10 months ) follow me and open door, if i lock it they bang on it and cry and scream and yeah. I don;t get to pee in peace!
