I asked my sons school to do a iep test on him because he has alot of trouble with work, and he gets very frustrated and just then wont do it.

Well They were suppose to test him for a second time last year ,6 months after the first one becasue he was borderline, 2 % from receving resource help, so the teachers promised to help and in the beginning they did, but then they slacked as the year went on. Well I called them 2 weeks ago and told them this is new year and I want him tested. They now tell me the laws have changed and that they have to work together as a team to help him but they cant test him before they try other things first because it is the law, they can give them a label. I didnt ask them to label him but to test him due to he was so close for help last year and his grades are being affected 4 weeks into the school year. Any suggestion or anyone know anything on the new law change?

I heard that when a child is spanked particularly a girl, that later leads her to accept domestic violence from her partner. If you can attach websites etc..to support your answers instead of personal opinion that would be great.

Thanks

Why do parents think they deserve respect from their children?
Parents think they are owed respect ! I feel they are not owed it. If they earn it then thats wonderful. I think my children respect me but i work very hard to always respect them..... They deserve just as much respect as you do.....

I have heard mothers that are in and out of rehad talk about respect.... im sorry but they did not put their children first they put drugs and drinking above their children, but still think they are owed respect . I feel its something everyone has to earn. Just because you have a child doesnt earn you respect.

How do you view respect?

What can be considered a young mother, I am 26 and my daughter is 6. She knows I am not her friend, I am her mom, but I see so many parents who want to be their kids friends and to me this is just wrong. I have a saying I tell my 6 year old:

"You don't have to like me because I don't want to be your friend, I can only hope and pray you will love me, BUT you WILL respect me"

I was just wondering what is the attraction to being your kids friend? Don't get me wrong I do fun things with her but first and fore most I am her mother. She knows she can come to me with anything and I know I will keep that line open when she is a teenager.

I have been divorced since 1997 and my son is now 14. Recently my ex has told me I can no longer see my son after having him regularly for alternate weekends. I have always paid maintenance and take my son to Rugby, paid for his season ticket, and racing here and abroad !

Why do you think it's important that kids have regular house chores and what are appropriate things to ask a 12 and 14 year old to do to help around the house. Both are boys, but that shouldn't make a difference.

I am babysitting an 18 month old and he keeps chasing me around the house screaming "num mums". I'm not sure what he wants.
On a side note, how do you handle an 18 month old who keeps grabbing your breasts? Is this normal? Should I spank him?

I have a 4 year old child with my ex. He has no rights to her anymore- he willingly terminated his own parental rights years ago so that my husband could adopt. She knows she is adopted, but she doesn't know him.

We went years without contact from him because that's how we all agreed to do it. Lately, though, I have been receiving email messages and phone calls from his new wife. Apparently, he has a terminal illness and now wants contact with the child. He is expected to survive less than 6 months.

I can't trust him. He's been abusive and lied to me in the past. I don't know her, so I have no way of knowing if he's really sick or if this is just their way of weaseling back into our lives.

Even if he is sick, though, I don't think it's right to let him back into our child's life right now. She's very young, doesn't know him, and I see no point in introducing someone into her life that is only going to die soon. Why allow her that heartache?

How do I get her to leave me alone?

I have been working as a stripper and i have a year old son.
I keep comming across people saying things like how could you do that and how could you do that to your son?.

My son has no connexion whatsoever with the work i do or the people i work with. I do not do anything that i dont like and i have never ever felt degraded or cheap in any way whatsoever . If it ever did effect my son when he was older i definately would stop doing it but right now all i get is you should quit. i could take there advice and get another job doing something i hate for low pay because i do not have lots of qualifications i am just not a particuly cleaver person there is nothing i could do different and earn the same ammount .i have a good job and i support my son completely by myself, and im doing it very well and i am a good mother, I am trying to go to classes so i can get some qualifications but right now i am happy with what i do.

Does any one agree with me or is every body against me on this?
