Both of us easily have enough money to provide for our (9) children. Its not the money I care about, its something else- I just don't think its right for him to be richer because he abused our kids (which is why we're seperated) and doesn't have to provide for us. First of how much should I ask for (he has another family, with 2 kids, but they have a step dad, and he gives them $500 a month)- 4 kids in collage and 5 between the ages of 3 and 15. Second if he refuses, if I take him to court will I probably win (I live in America).

During a picnic, my 4-year old nephew tried to "test" me by putting dirt in a vegetable platter in front of me after I asked him not to. I firmly said, "No, listen to me. Do NOT do that". He immediately put his head down and became withdrawn. No biggie. Then my sister walks over to soothe him and explains that he is sensitive when "other people" scold him. Then, to really rub it in, her husband walks over and rubs my nephew's neck. You'd think that I had kicked the kid in the crotch or something!! I'm pregnant with my 1st child, and I'd be totally cool with my sis yelling, even spanking, my kid if s/he ever acted up. I don't get it. He's my nephew. Are they overprotective, or did I really cross the line?? I feel insulted.

My daughter was complaining the other day that she still gets spanked and her younger brother doesn't anymore(she's 15 he's 14) I didn't really realize this but I explained to her that spanking doens't really work on boys after a certain age whereas girls still learn and benefit from it. I guess it is a little sexist, I'm a woman though so I should know. I got spanked by my dad unitl I was 17 or 18. I don't think it sexist, I think it just works. My friends who are also parents agree, and it's the same in their house. Boys after 13 or 14 just laugh it off, it doesn't hurt them, and they don't fear getting spanked. But teenage girls still fear it, submit to it and learn from it more. Our son still gets punished, just by other means. I think that's what a good parent should do, discipline according to each child. Am I wrong, do you agree, or does my daughter have a point? I don't think so. Opinions please.

ok, so my friend from japan is coming over to america to see me and she's supposed to be here for a week. i have told my new adopted parents and they said they are not going to let me see her. so i asked why and they said because for one that they will not be able to understand her and when i talk to her will not be able to understand me and because they do not know her and they really won't because again they can't understand her. she's a very nice girl, she's funny, sweet, responsible, and mature and would never do somthing she know's is wrong. how can i convince them to let me see her when she's here?

I am at a place where I feel the overwhelming desire to start a family with my husband. We are well established, great relationship and both in highly respected professions. My husband, with his scientific mind, keeps asking me WHY I have the desire right now (it has come to the point where my heart aches when I leave my friends' children...) and wants me to have a concrete articulation as to why I am having the feelings I am having. Feelings are quite difficult to put into a few words, and when I tell him I want to share my life and experiences with a child and to go to that step in my life, he just doesn't understand. He wants a concrete answer why. It isn't that he doesn't want kids, he does, just not sure WHEN. I can't keep feeling like this, but without a concrete explanation as to the WHY, he jsut cannot comprehend...So, long way of asking....

Why did/do you want to start a family besides the gutteral feeling of that is what you want for your life...??

I bought a fisher price hard plastic toy at a consignment shop. Its like a big mountain with roads & stuff on it. It stinks really bad (didn't notice at first) I cut a hole in the bottom & soaked it & scrubbed it with hot soapy water with baking soda. Then I soaked it with water & ammonia. It still stinks. It smells like cat pee. I'm ready to throw it away but my son LOVES this toy. Any ideas to get this smell out?

I mean, I just don't get why ppl leave having kids til they're like wat 35? That's even unhealthy physically, and why wait that late?
I'm sorry, I'm having a party at my place and I'm the only one to have too much wine, but all my family had their first child in their early twenties (other than my mum, late 20's, and me, late teens).
I just don't understand why you would wait that long, and have your kid's 21st wen you're like 60...
I'm sorry if I offended some women, I obvciously understand some dweren't able to before then, I'm not talking bout them -- I just mean, if you're twenty, and you wanna have a baby, why wait that long?
Everyone in my family had kids, and we're all connected, and we raise our kids well. Then again, maybe I'm just from a different culture.
Btw this isn't meant to offend anyone, I'm just expressing my opinion.

I was his gf and travelled with him and his three kids this summer a lot.
He hit his kids hard with the hard part of his palm on the lower back of the head. This happened a few times, and he admitted to doing it often.
He turned around, while driving on the highway, and pulled their hair hard while yelling at them.
Hi hit them as hard as he could on the legs several times (again, while driving) until they were all screaming in pain and humiliation.
He took them, for fun, on several dangerous excursions, such as climbing a boulder on the beach that was at least two stories high. They walked very near a steep edge without any assistance or equipment. They are twin boys aged only 9!
He screamed to his 11-year-old daughter, "you're a *****, just like your mother!"
They acted like I was not legit because I'm an ex and bc it happened 2 months ago.

For the last two months my daughter has been really angry. She doesn't always act out, but it is becoming more frequent. It started when her father and his new wife had another new baby. That makes five kids for him including the three we have together. He hasn't been spending much time with her or her little sister lately. He does spend time with the son we have together. I am really worried about her and I just don't know what to do. She is starting to get rather violent with everyone. I have tried talking to her dad, but he tells me I am just not punishing her well enough. I need some advice please.

I don't have any kids. But I do babysit for a cousin that has kids and she insists that if they misbehave that I should spank them. I personally have nothing against spanking however I told her that I don't feel comfortable spanking her kids. She insisted that because Im family and she trusts me that it's fine. Her kids are really spirited and high strung (thats the nice way of putting it) but im not sure whether spanking will help or not because Im not their mother or father and I don't think I shouldn't discipline them in that way. What do you guys think?

If you are already totally against spanking don't preach to me about how it's wrong okay.

My kids are misbehaving. They heard some bad words in school like ****, ****, and you get the point. So I was thinking to spank them, my parents spanked me before. And give me some examples like how hard, what to use, what position?
Thanks.

When my son was just a little boy< I use to put hidden notes, in his backpack some morning reminding him how much I loved him. I did that so that what ever he may face at school, he would get that extra support of love from me< cause of course I could not be there in his classes with him. But I was there in thought. And when I would pick him up from school. he would have this huge smile, and he would say I got your note. So to me that meant that, he read it and remembered what I said.
