I've got a dilemma and I'm not sure which way to go, so I'd like to hear some advice from people who've been there.
I hate my job. Hate it. The only benefit is that I work 3 12 hour shifts, and my Mom works 4 10 hour shifts. We've been able to work opposite of each other (we're at the same location, different jobs) so my son doesn't have to go to day care.
Two different positions have come up at my hospital. The pay is roughly the same that I'm making now, only these jobs are both 5 8 hour shifts, no weekends, no holidays, on occasion an evening shift (no nights), mostly days. The problem with that would be that I'd have to either find a babysitter or put my son in day care.
So do I stick it out in a job I hate with convenient hours? Or try something different but put my child in day care 4 days a week (mom would have him the other day while I'm at work)?

...would u allow ur 18 year old daughter to go clubbing for the first time even when she still lives in your house? why or why not?

By his choice, my daughter never saw her father until she was almost 5 years old. By his choice, when she was 6 years old he walked away from us again & it has now been more than 17 months since she has seen him. I always told him that no matter what happened between us, I would not stop a relationship between him and my daughter provided he would be a constant in her life and not come & go when it was convenient for him.

He & I have not had any contact since the first week of January 2007.

I've talked to lawyers on the phone, but without retaining them I really have not gotten any answers. I don't have the money to pay a retaining fee.

I just want to know if I can get his parental rights removed & still receive child support. I feel his rights need to be removed with or w/o financial support, but the financial support would sure help.

Note: There has never been a court order in place. I did rcv $ sporadically between June '05 and Dec. '06, but only when he felt like it.

He is 9 years old. He was extremely sick a few days ago with a high fever. We had to rush him to the ER. In the ER the doctors took a rectal temperature of 106! They had to give him an enema and a suppository to bring the temperature down quickly since he couldn't keep anything on his stomach. He cried a lot and the experience was very painful and frightening for him. Now I have to take him to his check-up but he is really embarrassed and scared. He starts crying every time. And the doctor has already told me that he will have to have a shot in his little booty.

I have 14 kids & 1 granddaughter that all live at home with me. So I'm pretty busy. But I do find time for myself. I fix my hair every morning & wear nice clean fitted clothes, do you? Most of my kids can get themselves ready, except for the little ones. (like under 5)

My frined and I, we both of us used to party together, work in the same company and we were best friends. I decided to go back to school, graduated and aspired other goals in my life/career. Her goals were to get marry, buy a house, and be a stay-home mom. All her goals became reality, but she became bitter, always attacking me for not hanging out as before. Recently, we had dinner and when I told her that I want to get a MBA, and she somehow manipulated the conversation to accused me of being selfish for not wanting to have children right now and that "was nothing wrong saying that I was selfish". Question: are all women expected to have children? if so, why?

Should spanking be used to discipline your child at any circumctanses? Is the saying "Spare the stick, spoil the kid." outdated as woman in the kitchen? Are methods like "Quiet Time" or denying previleges from a child much more effective means to discipline a child? Should modern parents even bother to discipline their children?

He is my second child, first boy...??
I thought I pretty much had parenting mastered as my daughter (10 years old) is a well mannered Angel, and everything was a breeze.
My son however, is very loving and everything.
But there is just one problem, he screams at the top of his lungs when he sees food. I am not going to discuss our 4 year wedding anniversary at the restaurant. But any advice would be greatly appreciated. I just don't know what to do, nothing I've tried has worked, he just wants me to feed him faster...I can't get the spoon back in the bowl.

in april. i desperatly want to be able to make contact with her. I just don't know whether it is to early to talk to her or not. I have been told by a minister that when babies die they become young children in heaven. like a 5 year old or something. the other thing I am worried about is that if she came to speak to me she might not get back to heaven. I dont know alot about this stuff. I just miss her so much and need reassurance that she is with me, if she is with me. If she can't talk to me I'd even be happy anough for her to 'haunt me'. move a few things or hear her about. sorry for going on a bit. thanks in advance xoxoxo

If you were not speaking to your son or daughter and they would not let you see your grand-child would you call the kids mother/father to visit them while they were at their house? Do you think this would make the situation with your child worse? How would you handle this? This question is based off Brittney Spears and her mother, and I just wondered how people in the real world would handle this.

Children below pre-adolescence (including infancy) don't understand the concepts. They go to church, go out to eat, go to the movies, go to airports, go on the subway, go to the zoo, aquarium, shopping, anywhere else. They will have the intention to get emotionally cranky or whatever. Can't parents look around them as well to understand the effects of their children on other people? Can't they leave them with a sitter or grandparents or whatever?

I have a son who is 4 yrs old. I adore him but I do not want and will not have any more children. I nearly died after his birth and the depression that set in post partum was crippling. I won't go through it again. Problem is, everyone in my family has several children and they always ask why I would let my son be an only child. They ask why I won't have more kids. On and on and on. I don't want to volunteer the real reason why, so what can I tell them? I've tried the simple "I don't think I can handle more kids" and they say "we'll help you with them!" Is there a better answer for this?
(by the way, most of the family asking do not know about my mental state and hospitalization following his birth. I kept it a secret from everyone but my mother)

i am not sure if this is just a policy here for Prince George County Public Schools, but does every parent have a policy at their child's school where it is prohibited to walk your child to his/her classroom? Especially when they are 5 years old starting a new school?

This policy makes me uncomfortable and restricted to my sister who goes to this school. Anything can happen to her at that age. She still doesnt know where her class is and teachers are not guaranteed to be there to supervise her of where to go.

Parents are not even allowed to walk down the hall with the children. We need an appointment to walk down the halls and to talk to the teacher about minor things regarding homework. We just took her out of private and into public schools. We are thinking about putting her back in private.

we have a 13 month old son..and i want to have an other baby when my son is around 2 going on 3 or around there.
I've tried mentioning it to my hubby, but he as soon as the topic comes up he says "i dont want to talk about it" when i eventually get him to talk, he says he is not ready because having our son has been harder work than what he first thought it would.
I really want an other one, when we first meet we both wanted 5 kids.
Im an only child, and i dont want my son to be an only child aswell.
I dont want a big age difference between my kids..if i end up having more..
Im talking to him now because i didnt want to shock him at last minute and be like "okay lets have an other one now!"
Is there a way to change his mind? or what do you think i should do?

This has happened to Britney Spears. I could not imagine losing my children or doing ANYTHING that would cause me to lose custody of them ever. It makes me sick to know that some mothers have such a lack of conscience to allow this to occur.

what kind of punishment is this? I think she's doing me a favor

We had an argument she says, "Don't talk to me."

It's so relaxing watching TV, without her talking and asking, Why, what and where

It's so peaceful without her talking and yelling

My child has 2 severe food allergies. I am really concerned about how this is going to affect her as she gets older. Example: Birthday party. We didn't go because there were peanuts on the tables as a decoration and they were being eaten by adults and children at the party. The issue for her is the peanut dust that is in the air when they are being eaten (which is why many airlines no longer serve peanuts on flights). So, we skipped the party. My guess based on the severity of her allergy is that I would have been shocked if she would have made it through the night without a reaction.
Why am I paniced? Because I am noticing that people continue on with their plans, even if it excludes us. In all instances, it would be very easy to make small changes to accomidate her, but it doesn't happen and so we skip out on the event. It has gotten to the point where it is hurtful & feels like she/we are not accepted.
What do you think? Please be honest!!
Thank you!
