We have beening doing for 5 yrs and it works out great but now that his in school i wonder if this is the best for him. What i mean would it be better to have his mom keep him during the week so he can have the same routine for school nights and i could get him every weekend? At my house he has to sleep on the couch in the living room at his moms he has his oun room. On tuesday when he goes home at 8 it only gives us 2 hours by the time his homework is done and we eat its time to bring him home to his moms. I would miss not seeing him all week and he would miss me too I just feel hes being shuffled around from one place to anouther. My ex is fine with ether way.

My 15 year old daughter wants to go to Cedar Point with her 18 year old boyfriend (in college) and his parents that are crazy. We live in Michigan, so they'd be going out of state to Ohio.

Her boyfriend and his parents called my daughter a ***** numerous times and they've been going out for 1 1/2 years.

I'm right to not let her go right?

My daughter just started 3rd grade. Ever since she was in Kindergarten, always in the Public School System, she was subjected to these "Reading Writing Workshops"! I don't mind they have some homework, but she also likes to play and there is so little as no time for it!! Do you agree?? She is stressed out!!

I love to snuggle with him and talk to him and show him things in the house and outside but should I be "doing" something with him to encourage his physical/mental development? I'm worried that I'm missing out on a critical learning period by "slacking" on what I'm showing/teaching him.

Please help this frazzled first-time-mother. Thank you!!!!

Well, its really my nephew but he lives with us. In a few weeks we will be moving and we broke the news to him last night, he's 6. We always have problems getting him up in the morning but today was worse then normal. Usually when I go to get him up for school he whines a little and drags himself to the bathroom. This morning, he refused to get out the bed and when I finally did get him to go into the bathroom and wash up, as soon as I left the bathroom, to get the baby, he ran back into his room and locked the door, so I couldnt get in. My husband ended up having to take the door knob off the door, so that he wouldnt be late for school. He refused to eat his breakfast and he wouldnt talk to us at all this morning. My husband wanted to spank him for locking himself in the room but I am not a big fan of spanking. I think he is acting out because of the move and my husband thinks he's just spoiled, which is it? How do I disicipline his behavoir? I cant just let him off the hook.

Many more fathers are taking care of kids and helping moms and we need to be able to change our children. I kind of understand building built before men got more involved. But I have been to brand new establishments with no changing table in the men's room or a family restroom. My wife has the flu so I took my daughter out on Sunday and three places did not have changing tables.

I've seen some parents in public who do not watch their kids and do not have any common sense. For example, I've seen a toddler maybe less than 2 years old by himself by the playground, while his mother wasn't watching because she was conversing with other moms in her "clique". This little baby was climbing up the stairs with a bottle on one hand and then climbing down the stairs. He could have fell too. I felt guilty so I had to watch this little stranger, so nothing would happen to him.
Another time, I was at the library children's area with my son and there was this woman who left her two daughters (looked like 3 and 4 years old) there by themselves for about 10 minutes or more while she went somewhere else (she wasn't anywhere in the room).
Another time, at a different library' children's area, this mom left her young toddler (maybe 2 years old) alone at the children's area while she went to go do something else for about 5-10 minutes (she wasn't in the room either).

My 15 year old daughter just came to live with me. She lived with her father from age 10 to 15. I like having her with me, but do feel the pressure of being a single parent.

All of the responsiblity falls on me - helping her with studies, enrolling and taking her to classes, and also cooking/ cleaning and shopping for our apartment.

I keep thinking that she would be better off with both parents. Yet, my ex-husband would not help me much with her when we were together. He would work late and if he was home, he would ignore me or pick fights with me about minor trivial things.

I feel sad that my daughter has had to go through so much transition because her parents could not get along.

I am trying to make the best of each day, but sometimes wonder what she did to deserve a disruptive life.

She wanted her and myself to move to the state where my ex-husband is now living.

As a child care specialist I know kids face difficult decisions. Being involved in your child’s life is extremely important in ensuring they don’t end up taking the wrong path. Research from the Partnership for a Drug-Free America shows that kids who learn consistently from their parents about the risks of drugs and alcohol are up to 50% less likely to use than those who don't. What clues can you share to identify whether kids may be experimenting with drugs and alcohol?

I was nineteen when my older daughter was born. Way young. Probably TOO young. And I, no doubt, made some mistakes with her.

But now she's 4 years old and we're doing fine while my 30 something year old friend is getting ready to have her first- all the angst I had about being a new mom is coming up again in the questions she's asking and the advice she is now seeking from me.

Do you think age really has as much to do with it as maturity and experience? I'm 23 years old and have given potty training advice to women twice my age before. I don't understand why everyone thinks children of young mothers are at such a disadvantage- all mothers learn at the same pace- NOBODY knows anything about being a parent when the first baby is born. You may think you do, but you don't...

This has been a chrnonic problem for the last week, I have constand erections in all 4 of my school classes, and they last between 15-30 minutes. I can't get up from my chair, I cant walk anywhere because it is extremely noticeable. I am a freshman in highschool.

I had many erections before, but it was usually never at school, was either in my room on the internet, or just daydreaming.

I really need advice to stop this problem for school.

Is this the new trend? I am so tired of seeing kids (ages 2, 3 and even 4) trotting around with a bottle and a pacifier a.k.a. "binky" in their mouth. What is up with that? At what age should a child be weaned from these things? I was in Albertson's and this little girl, obviously 3 or so, was screaming "I want my binky!". Her mother was explaining that she was going to buy her another one and that she could use it as soon as they left the store. What??? This child had a mouth full of teeth for her age and she could talk and walk as good as any grown woman.

This is definitely NOT the first time that I've seen this. Why are so many parents giving in to their kids addiction to the bottle and pacifier at that age? It's like some people actually get mad if you say something about it. They know it's abnormal, but they don't want you to bring it to their attention. I have a relative that allows her 3 year old to suck a bottle full of juice every night.

Weird.
