Maybe you don't have the whole story. All CPS cases are strictly confidential. If your getting your information from the parent, maybe the parent is in denial and not admitting the the problem themself. Parents don't have to have a record, they may have never been caught or charged. When there is a substantial risk to a child, and evidience to support that then the CPS worker will be forced to make recommendations to keep the child with a parent. The recommendation for drug rehab is to preserve the family--Not separate the family.

Many parents have substance abuse problems without drug records. If a CPS worker makes parents go into drug rehab, then there will likely be evidence that the the parent needs it. A CPS worker must have evidence to require such treatment.

If you are the parent, get moving, get help, because your child needs a parent more than you need the drugs!!!

Because, although someone may not have been arrested for drug use, it doesn't mean they don't use.

And just to make all pregnant females aware, when you go into the hospital to have your baby, you will be drug tested. If you come up positive for anything not prescribed by a doctor, you will be going home without your baby, and the baby will be placed in foster care until you can prove that you are "clean" for a certain amount of time.

Sometimes parents may have suffered from their own parents' abuse-style parenting, and not have sufficient life skills or parenting skills to effectively manage their children.

In those cases, it is almost the same as being brought up by an abuser even if the parent has never personally abused drugs or alcohol.

My ex-husband was like that--completely without basic child management techniques, even though he had never abused anything. Turned out his parents were 'secret drunks' and even he didn't know about it, so he didn't know that his methods (or lack of) were all wrong.

because drugs are bad and when you have a child you shouldn't do drugs (or at all for that matter). If you do, you don't deserve the privilege of being a parent. How can you take care of a child properly if you are stoned out of your mind? Its about protecting the child. Look at the people who went crazy at school and killed a bunch of people..they didn't have a homicide record but look what they did...

it is possible to do drugs and not have a drug record. there are people in the welfare system that are trained to see the signs of drug abuse. thankfully they don't haveto wait until a person has a drug record before they can begin to try and help the child
the bottom line is ...if you want to keep your kids you'll do anything and everything to make it so.

Because not having a drug record only means the parent haven't been caught. Doesn't mean they don't have a problem.

i'd say you should call toddler centers, yet perchance first you should communicate on your sister approximately this and tell her that if she does not get sparkling you'll want the toddler taken away. and perchance you are able to seek advice from somebody from toddler conserving centers or a social worker approximately getting custody of a youngster so she does not ought to enhance up in a foster living house or something, plus in case you have been looking after the toddler your sister would nonetheless be waiting to the toddler and perchance sometime regain custody. Meth is a severe component, and whether it won't see like the toddler is being overlooked, she is that if she's slumbering on the floor and does not have formula, your sister is probable spending all of her money on drugs rather of on the toddler, and in case your sister is breast feeding all of those pollutants she's putting in her physique is going into the toddler's physique. My mom grew to become into on meth throughout the time of a solid 10 years of my existence, or maybe however she grew to become into offering for me i grew to become into overlooked lots, maximum days she in basic terms sat in her room smoking and days she did not get her fix she spent the day slumbering while you evaluate that grew to become into the only way she would desire to cope and when I did see her we regularly fought. She's sparkling now and we are closer, so it grew to become into certainly the meth that made her that way. i'd heavily seem into getting custody of your niece and getting your sister into rehab, whether you have custody because of the fact the drugs will kill her.

perhaps cps has reason to believe the parent has a drug problem. Just because one has not ever been arrested for drug related issues...yet...does not mean there is not a drug problem.
