My daughter was complaining the other day that she still gets spanked and her younger brother doesn't anymore(she's 15 he's 14) I didn't really realize this but I explained to her that spanking doens't really work on boys after a certain age whereas girls still learn and benefit from it. I guess it is a little sexist, I'm a woman though so I should know. I got spanked by my dad unitl I was 17 or 18. I don't think it sexist, I think it just works. My friends who are also parents agree, and it's the same in their house. Boys after 13 or 14 just laugh it off, it doesn't hurt them, and they don't fear getting spanked. But teenage girls still fear it, submit to it and learn from it more. Our son still gets punished, just by other means. I think that's what a good parent should do, discipline according to each child. Am I wrong, do you agree, or does my daughter have a point? I don't think so. Opinions please.
