I'm still traumatized by that movie, LOL. At the age of 31, I still won't go very far out in the water. I swear it's from watching that movie as a child. Then again, my brothers watched it and they have no fear.

It would have been a good thing to let the parent know what the children were doing. He may have seen them throwing the rocks and assumed they were tossing them down the hill into the water. That is a fun thing to do. The evil children needed to be reported on so they could be held accountable for their actions. I always recommend that you leave all anger and need for retaliation behind when talking to a parent about the misbehavior of their child. People often react to anger with anger. If the parent becomes defensive and hateful any way, at least you have tried to help their child learn right from wrong. I feel awful that your day was spoiled. Too bad you couldn't have changed fishing spots.

it's only a movie. Now they're going to be banning it because someone thinks it's unhealthy for kids to watch. People need to start living in the real world. TV ain't going to create a kid to be bad or talk vulgar because of what's on, It's the parents job to tell them what's right or wrong. Why haven't they dropped bug bunny yet, it has violence in it.

Not bad parenting just a bad movie choice at a young age and the wrong timing. Now they will not want to go into the water. But i think your idea was incorrect.

Nah, just crazy parenting! It is right up there with burning a weiner on a hot stovetop to keep the kids from getting themselves burned. Or tapping a pencil on a mousetrap to keep your kids from getting their fingers anywhere near the mousetraps.

I think that they will be frightened but if they stay close to shore I think they might not be so scared. I would have not let them watch it before they go straight to Florida

Well how old are they??
My husband and I both laugh that the thought of jaws still enters our heads when we swim. Not necessarily a good thing.

that is horrible parenting:
you'll run the risk of your kids never knowing the enjoyment of playing in the ocean so you don't have to worry or dare I say 'monitor' them while they play.
Do you leash them when walking the neighborhood or mall you lazy soab

I would say, strange parenting. By that logic, you let them watch a gunslinger movie, going to Texas, or WW2 movie going to Europe.

No i do not think so. Its a movie and they need to learn to tell between fantasy and reality. You can explain to them about real sharks and how they really are in the wild.
