I am babysitting an 18 month old and he keeps chasing me around the house screaming "num mums". I'm not sure what he wants.
On a side note, how do you handle an 18 month old who keeps grabbing your breasts? Is this normal? Should I spank him?

I'm not sure what num-mums are but I would guess food. Start pointing out different snacks, or juice, or milk, and see which one he responds too. Did he breastfeed for a long time, maybe that is why he is grabbing. Don't spank him. Just remove his hand and say no and put him down somewhere and don't talk to him for a minute. He's too young for time out. Keep doing this every time he grabs you and he'll get the hint because then he's losing his playing buddy when you do this. Good luck!

I would say num nums are boobs, so he prob wants a breast feed before you put him to bed. My child is 2 and still grabs everyones boobs (she was breastfed, but now is not) and we just take her hands away and say no in a light hearted tone. The child is just curoius and i wouldnt smack him for it.

Why dont you talk to the parents about it and share your convcerns. They may be able to shed some light on what you should do

spank an 18 month old. Um no. Is he breastfeeding?? He probably is looking for you to breastfeed him. Just give him a snack and some toys. Do not spank an 18 month old. He has no clue what is going on!!

Sounds like he's trying to "num nums", like he's hungry? Try feeding the kid.

Don't spank the child unless you have talked to the parents about this previously. NEVER HIT ANOTHER PERSON'S CHILD!

Take his hand, grab it firmly and say "NO, that's not okay", then remove him from you and put him in another area to play.

Yep that is very normal, you shouldn't spank him for it this is a natural process of growth for a child, tell him that that's not nice and that it hurts. As for the num mums ask his mom she may know what he is saying alot of children have their own language and moms usually understand it.My son has his own language and when he is talking to someone they always look at me to translate it for them!!!
