Why? I'm sure that deep down you already know the answers to these questions, but since you've asked, I'll try and make it clear. When you do something wrong, you deserve punishment so you won't be doing it again. Playing computer games is an occasional pastime, but if your parents are against it, that's their prerogative. Why do they want you to have good grades? That's so you'll grow up and amount to something rather than become a drifter or a drain on society. These are harsh facts of life, my dear, but believe me, you'll appreciate your parents once you have the good sense to understand them. Some day you might be a parent yourself, and hopefully by then you'll have all the answers to these questions.

I (mostly) agree w/ the previous post, EXCEPT for the 'punishment' part. I would say *consequences*. It's very important that children learn early that there are consequences for their actions; sometimes good, sometimes not-so-good. Otherwise, we'd be surrounded by spoiled brats who never want to work for anything.
