I have 3 beautiful children all of whom I love equally. I became a mother because I wanted to have children to love and take care of. I didn't have children so I could pick favorites. I love them all the exact same amount. Sure, sometimes one of them will upset me more than the others, but the thought has never crossed my mind to "dislike" that child just because of what they did. I'm a mother to try to help my children learn, to help them grow from their mistakes. If I act selfishly and pick a favorite child based on who causes me the least problems, I wouldn't be doing a good job of being a mother.

No! I would never chose a favorite amoungst my children, they are all unique and I love them equally. What kind of a parent would say they like one child more then the others?! The only thing that will do for your children is leave the ones you say aren't the favorite feeling insecure, sad and unloved. besides which it will foster competion between the kids because they all want ot be the best.
Its ridiculous and cruel to pick a favorite kid!

I do not have a favorite, how anybody could show more favoratism towards one child than the other is ridiculous. I have 3 children I love unconditionally and equally. There are certain things about each of them that makes them special to me in a different way than one another, but that does not change how much I love them.

No, since I only have one. But I do have a favorite nephew =p. I'm my grandmother's favorite of all the grandkids, because I was the first, and we lived together when my parents got divorced. We're very close. I'm not my Mom's favorite, by any means, but we have a different relationship because I am the oldest, and only girl. I think it's more a matter of loving them differently.

If you want to make the rest of your kids insecure, then by all means, have a favorite. There is nothing like knowing that you are not your mom's favorite child to ruin your self-esteem.
My mom always told me that you can't love one child more than another because you love them each differently. And loving one more person only makes the amount that you can love to grow.

I don't have kids but I do favor my baby brother who is 5 over my two younger sisters because he is the only boy in my family. We have a very close bond with each other despite there being a 15 year age difference between my brother and me. In my religion we are taught that we can't have a favorite child because it will make the other children jealous.

Right now I do because I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter. I'm 14 weeks pregnant. When I have the next one, I'm sure I'll love them both equally.

NO absolutely not.
It makes me sad to hear parents say that. How could you love a child more than the other one.. Thats a horrible thing to do the other one. THat will do damage to the other child....

I could NOT make Sophie's choice. I love them both so very much.
Having said that, I'd say that my momentary favorite is the one who follows directions and isn't whining. That changes by the minute. :-)

No, I have seen this before but cannot even fathom favoring one of my kids over the other, I love them both equally for their differences.
