Why is it when i was a child i use to get my but tore up with a switch or a belt and mow if u even look at a child like u are going to punish them they atomaticlly think DSS or holler child abuse. I think if some of the really bad kids in this world got their buts tore up like my generation did the world wouldn't be in such a mess with run aways , drug users, Prostatuion And so on that the kids are falling into these days.I'm not talking about relly hurting a child just letting them know a little disepline it didnt hurt me im still here. But now days kids rule their parents and it's just not cool.

Ok, I love my sister and I don't like to get into her business, but it has gotten to the point where if I don't help her terrible things could happen to her and her children. Yesterday I witnessed for the first time her boyfriend abusing her. I had my suspisions but I never expected how bad it was. He punched her in her face twice and kicked her half way down the stairs. Whats worse is she is 5 months pregnant with their baby. How could he be so cold? I lost my temper then and attacked him on my own, thank goodness he didn't attack me back. But what do I do? She refused to call the police and the baby is alright but I can't stand by knowing what might happen next. Should I call the police myself? My family keeps telling me to leave it alone but how can I? This is my sister and I want to protect her. Any advice will be well appreciated.

If your 7th grade son was kicked out of school for two days, for fighting at school, what punishment at home, would he get?

My sister's son was kicked out and I told her her should be grounded from the computer, his electric guitar, and playing with the dog. So far, he is allowed to do all those things and will be doing them while he is home alone(not a school for two days). I think my sister is rewarding him for his BAD behavior.

My kid's father has had no contact with me since last year. Ive sent numerous pics and updates, but there is no response from him at all. I feel like he has proven that he doesnt want any parts due to the fact that he doesn't communicate with me at all about the baby. He doesn't ask about him at all and I don't understand why. Does anyone have any answers as to why this is and what should I do about this situation?

that I am getting from my daddy.

All he ever does is work. He takes very little interest in my school unless I get in trouble and then he takes forever to come in and talk to the principal so I spend lots of time in in-school suspension.

My mom is gone. My daddy spoils me but I wish he would just care more.

I have two daughters (17 and 20)...my son recently turned 14. I'm peacefully divorced 4 yrs and have shared custody. My kids see both their dad and myself and they're overall fine with both of us...neither his dad or myself are remarried so no step parent issues to deal with.

What are some typical traits of a 14 yr. old boy / young man ? What can I expect out of of him temperment wise for the next few years? When, if, will this temperment trait pass ?

He shares quick answers, behaves brooding, grumpy . . . is this typical ?

What can I do as his mom to get through these times with him?

My 5 month old daughter loves to sleep with her face shoved into her blanket. She sleeps on her back and with a pacifier but she immediately turns her head and wants to shove her face into a blanket. I have tried to not putting a blanket next to her head but she fusses and fusses turning her head to the side constantly (and I have a 3 yr old i must also tend to also). Once I place a blanket next to her face she right away falls sleeps. Sometimes she even grabs the blanket and pulls it on top of her face, I come in and pull it away but she loves the feeling and finds comfort in it. What should I do?

Okay, my best friend in I do drastically different in school. My GPA is a 3.7 and his is significantly lower. My parents are looking at him getting a job when he just turned 16 and how much he works and because I've always been good at managing time, I asked my mom if I could just work a few hours a on the weekends. She refused. It's been this way forever. Well, my best friend also has band. I don't think he should've gotten a job, but I could fit a few hours in on the weekends and still have time for my advanced homework and to do some fun stuff. So, who do you agree with and how would I go about winning my mom/dad over?

I'm 15 and I think it's because when they were teens, their parents gave them TOO MUCH freedom and they made some really wrong choices because of it, BUT come on! I've tried to talk to them about it, but they don't listen... It's insane, like someone's watching over you all the time and watching your every move! Well, I'm over-exaggerating, but that's what it feels like! And I won't have my own car until I go to college.. Oh geez! OK, so my question is, "How do I show my parents that I can handle adult responsibilities?" Now, just everyday stuff... I'm in high school and I tried doing this, because they think I'm up too late, so I went to sleep at 10 and they were astonished. Then, they thought I was stressed about SOMETHING! I just think they're worried about me b/c they haven't been able to teach me half the stuff they wanted to, but I'm more knowledge able than they think. What can I do to show them I can take on adult responsibilities with actions?

I asked this in Pregnancy yesterday, but I'd like more opinions. Thanks!

Two adults (past their 20s) who were trying to avoid pregnancy wind up pregnant anyway. They are friends and do care about each other, but they are not and do not wish to be in a serious relationship. The woman wants to keep the baby. The man doesn't want a child at all.
From a purely ethical standpoint, what are these two adults' responsibilities to each other and the child? If she is choosing to have a child he absolutely does not want, should she simply absolve him and assume all responsibility for the child? What responsibilities, if any, should the man have to the child, when he has made it clear he cannot be a parent at this point in his life?
No knee-jerk make-the-jerk-pay responses, please.

"will it hurt?"

What do you tell them? I personally tell them the truth,

"yes it will hurt a little bit, but not for long and mommy will be right there."

I have a friend who chooses to tell her kids that it won't hurt at all, I am just wondering how many parents go that route. In my thinking it would cause my kids to not trust me if I lied and said it wouldn;t hurt and then it did. Others thoughts?

Is it wrong to teach your child not to be gay. My mother taught me it is a sin to be gay. I am now 17 and living my fiancee and my 3 year old daughter and I am teaching my child not to be gay. I believe it to be immoral and I am going to raise her not to be gay. I believe strongly in morals.
