I have recently been looking into the cost of daycare for our oldest child (4 years) and a new baby (due in September). I would like to know how much other people in the Midwest (especially Eastern KS) are paying for their daycare for similar ages. Thanks for any help you can give me!

My fiance gets mad at my son when he goes potty in his diaper. He sends him to the corner and yells at him. I told him that potty training should be a fun time for him (you know to feel like a big boy). That we should never yell when he doesn't remember to make it to the potty. We should praise and encourage him and never be mean about it. Won't the potty training take longer if my fiance continues to act like an immature father figure???

Also, as a parent, how would you react if your nanny quit? (If she gave you 2 weeks notice?) I'm very scared to do it, but I have to!

just reading some questions and answers and it got me thinking.... i know women are not disowned etc these days for being a lone parent but i think that this group is still very much stigmatised and i feel that single parents are forever justifying the reason they are on their own. i am divorced with two kids i have raised alone for 8 years, i have a well paid job, never claimed benefits, my own house etc and it was their dad that walked out...see what i mean ive justifyed it in case i get a back lash. any others feel the same pressure to explain etc?

Did you have over protective parents??
If you're older, are you glad for the way they treated you in your teenage years?
my parents (mainly mother grrr!) is pretty strict..... I don't mind/can see where she's coming from with most of the stuff.
but sometimes it's freaking insane! like not letting me sleepover my friend's houses? (she won't tell me why she won't let me go! she likes all my friends and their families!)i'm 16
see i'm arabic, but have lived here all my life, so i respect the arab culture and follow it, but don't you think that my mother should try and stretch her limits by following some of the british culture for my sake?

I asked this question before so I'm sorry if you have answered already. I just wanted to clarify some things. My aunt lost custody of my cousin b/c she is a really bad mother. My mom took him in and just found out she may have the right to adopt him soon. My mom is really mean to my cousin she yells at him and tells him constantly how bad he is. She is never positive with him. He does have bad behavior sometimes b/c of the poor life he has had so far. He is really trying though. He is treated way differently than my other sisters. My step dad is racist and my cousin is half black. He will never accept him but my mom thinks she is doing the right thing by keeping him in the family. I am not a spoiled brat or a child. I am 22 years old and do not live at home. I visit my mom daily so I know the situation. Please help what do I do!! I want to notify his case worker anonymously...Is this wrong??

I am currently stationed in Korea till June 2007, I got an instant message from my wife that my 7 year old son was very disrepectful to his kindergarden teacher. Just would not listen to her. I can give my soldiers corrective training and be creative with it, but I am having trouble trying to come up with something for my son that he would not do this again. My wife had him write I am sorry letter. Any suggestions

My fathers cancer is terminal and we just started with hospice care and are told that he has weeks left after a long fight and battle with treatment options, etc... I am fairly open with our daughter about most topics ( she is 7 years old) but this is a tough one to tackle when there are so many emotions going through my head. I have researched some good books to read, but would love to hear what you found helpful in discussing the topic of death of a family member with a child.

Has anyone experienced this type of situation before and have advice?

Please don't just answer & say "be open & honest"- I am already doing that - I am looking for tools or ways to share with her- art? Books? music? things to open the converstaion easily and gently.... Thanks!

I am totally sure I am going to get a lot of negative answers and oppinions on this, but I am asking for serious reasons.
Right now I am pregnant and I have no family members who support me in any way. My boyfriend is abusive and I am going to leave him. I lost everything when I got in my car accident. The car is totalled. Lost my job cuz of it.
I have no money except the money I got back from the book value of my car.
I am considering after my baby is born to become a escort. They make good money and I can take care of my child w/o having to stay w/ my b/f, and I can get on my feet again.
Their is no way I will get an abortion or adopt my child out. I dont care if any of you say I should, because for me its not an option!!!
Do you know how to get into this business? I have no idea how I would start.
Im ready for the good answers and the ugly answers you all have to offer me.
