Also, as a parent, how would you react if your nanny quit? (If she gave you 2 weeks notice?) I'm very scared to do it, but I have to!

Help find another nanny if you have time. Write the kids letters so they know you still care about them. Little things like birthday and christmas cards will show you care.

Tell the parents you are not going to be able to work for them any longer, and explain why. You could also offer to help them find another nanny and keep on working until they do find one.

Before you leave, spend a day with the kids, doing something special. Let them know how special they are to you. And you could always visit them...

Whatever you do, I wish you the best of luck.

First tell the parents. You seem really terrified. What is causing you to leave? Tell the parents of your wishes that the kids know they are not a part of your decision to leave. Then begin making plans for your departure.

Tell the kids that you must move on in your life and begin making a celebration of the situation. Everyday talk to the children and tell them one new thing that will be changing in your life.

On your final day give yourself a going away party, complete with gifts for the children, balloons, a cake...the works.

Do not dwell on your departure each day with the kids but just a reminder daily of what your future is. The celebration before you leave will help them to cope with your departure with a lot more ease. They will see the celebration as a good thing and will not see it as a negative reflection of them.

Talk to the children. Tell them that you love them and will miss them. Employers know that sooner or later a nanny or anyone else who works for them will leave.

Sit the kids down and tell them that is not them and that its time for you to move on. Be honest with kids, they will understand.

Right after you tell the parents you should personnally tell the kids ...you should right out tell them that it is nothing they did.
