I used scissors when I was a new mom but the scissors got bent and wouldn't work anymore...so now I've switched to clippers. I try to cut them as soon as I realize they've grown and start scratching me. Like once every week or two.

I always used a small clipper, I was afraid of the scissors, in case they moved and i could have hart them some other place. So with the clipper I felt I had more control. I would cut them, and file them every time I seen that they were too long, When I seen too much white. If your talking babies I just filed them.

Clippers are safest. Keep nails short because dirt and everything else gets under them (think of a kid wiping his own butt....eewww). Clippers cut just enough that you don't get into the edges of the nail and risk the nail growing into the skin (like an ingrown toenail...)

HA! why would you cut your kids nails with scissors? Thats what clippers are for. I have two, 2year old cousins and yes we cut their nails with clippers. Its also very easy to do it when they are asleep. You may even try painting them when they are asleep to!!! If you used scissors you could possibly cut them. so i really dont think thats a good idea♥

This is going to sound really bad, but when my kids were babies, I would bit them off. Just bit a peice on the side and pull off the nail. The first time I used clippers on my babies I cut the skin and felt horrible. So that is what I did.

clippers. when there is a little bit of white on the nail is when I clip. I hold my son facing the same direction as me, he likes to watch and holds very still. He is 8 months old. When he was smaller it was almost impossible I would clip maybe one or two nails a day when he was on the changing table.

I have always had better luck with clippers and I do keep them short. I have found that as my eldest gets older I have a harder time keeping up with her nails. I just looked at her toenails and was appalled. On the plus side, she is now old enough to clip her own nails. I just inspect them afterward to correct any jagged edges or missed places.

Clippers are easier to use on a kid or baby. Keep them short so they don't scratch themselves or anyone else. I kept my sons so there was no whites showing. He now bites them off to the quick.. By the time I was 7 I was growing my nails out. It depends on the childs sex & what activities they are in - if your daughter is active keep them short.
