Little ones are so observant and I was wondering how you explained different races and ethnicity to your toddler when they asked or started to notice different skin tones? What terms did you use, or would you prefer used when explaining it to them. I have often times found that the term "brown" to describe African American skin tones just seems wrong, but then toddlers also have a limited learning ability for terms and understanding.

I had a baby July 3rd of 06, and I love him with all my heart, I also got married when I was 6 months pregnant, I am 18, And I was wondering if it was normal to sometimes think about what it would be like now if we didn't have him, or wonder if my husband and I would get along better if he wasn't here? I can't think of life without my son, but every once in awhile it kind of comes into my mind. And does anyone have any tips on continuing on a romantic relationship even though we've had a baby?

I had a person tell me yesterday that I was a horrible parent for vaccinating my children. She thinks that the government is trying to infect us all with diseases. I don't think all parents that choose not to vaccinate think this way but her comment just blew me away.

She continued to say that I am horrible for the following reasons:
I buy store bought food
I use big bottles
I use binkies
I have a big TV

By the way, I have never met this woman nor have I ever had a conversation with her. Most of the things she said are untrue.
So, I was just wondering how many other horrible parents were out there.

I catch children running with knives or scissors, or even sharp pencils sometimes, and I always wonder what I should tell them to do? What should I teach them as the correct and safe way to hold such objects while moving?

and why? On the other hand, if you choose to vaccinate, why? Please no long copy and paste articles on the issue, I am interested in your own words.

I asked a question about vaccinations and holding my children while they are being vaccinated and received a long answer telling me why I am horrible for vaccinating my children, I feel the benefits far outweigh the risks. Just curious how many people choose to vaccinate and how many do not.

I know this woman she is in her mid 20s with 5 kids (3 dads). She is a terrible role model for them as she was preg with her 1st at school and has never worked since, just scrounged off benefits popping out kids for a payrise every now and then. Her kids seem to always be at the hospital with something wrong. I am not saying that she beats them because she defo isnt but their accidents all seem to happen because she lets then run riot, too involved with herself to care if they are out playing an wonder miles from home or if they injure themselves round the house because of her carelessness? Social services have been called to her before but will the hospital have the authority to inform them if they think something is wrong?

I have a newborn so I am up at all hours of the nigth. In the morning I don't always want to jump right up with my 2 and 4 year old. Sometimes I need an extra 15 min. to get my mind awake and happy. Do your kids wake you up or do they go play and let you sleep an extra couple of minutes?

I asked that question before but I didn't get the answer I really need so I post it again.I'm a widower(age 32) with a 3-year-old daughter(N).My colleague (J. - woman, age 29) isn't married and lives with that girl - L.(age 16,her parents have lived in another country for the last year and are spending a year more but can't take her) who often comes to work and sometimes helps.L knows N since N was born and N looks at L as she is like a mother(L often babisits N,disciplines her, feeds her, buys her clothes when needed, etc).Recently N has started to ask questions about her mother.I can't tell her the truth now(her mother was murdered) and don't know how to explain that.N's mom was a very close friend to L(just as J is) and when N asks L about her mom,L answers but after that gets upset, sometimes cries(L has been there when my wife was murdered).N and L are very close too. What should I do with N and how could I help L(don't offer grief councelling pls it's not a solution in our case)?

We may take our children with us to a wedding thats on a dude ranch and staying there a few days, but curious whats a safe age for our toddler to be around or even riding a horse/pony with an adult. For a non-experienced rider is it pretty unsafe to hold a 2 year old while doing this. I obviously have reservations, but then again, havent ridden a horse since I was a kid. Maybe Ill check into if they have a wagon :)

Would someone explain me how to handle a 5-year-old daughter's total disrespect? She doesn't listen about anything and when I tell her to do something she just pretends to not having heard me.I spank her but the more I spank the less she behaves. She often misbehaves everywhere I go with her.Her school teachers say that she is a clever child and they wonder why she is so naughty.I spank her but there doesn't seem to be any effect. What should I do???

My son is 4 years old. He's been acting differently compare to children his age. It is hard to control him. Our neighbors told us "maybe your son has ADHD". What is ADHD?

Me and my wife had an argument. I said we should spank our kids as a disciplinary action. She says we should give them a nice "talking to" or a "timeout". I dont want my kids to grow up to be little ******* but I dont want them to be violent. What should I do?

I think it should be. If a kid fights in school don't they get in trouble? If an adult hits another adult isn't it assalt? Why is laying a hand on a child any different? I am all for banning spanking, are you?

I am pregnant and my hormones are going all weird, but lately I think about my home life alot.. I guess you think about family when pregnant. I never fit in anywhere when growing up, not with my family.. and I was shelted and didn't ahve any friends that I liked. Now I wonder 'are my kids normal'? They seem to fit in great... Do you ever worry about your kids that way>?

I have an 11 month old son and am curious to know if there are little tid-bits that people want to share about things that they wish they would have done or wouldn't have done when their children were growing up. Anyone want to share from their personal experiences? Thanks.

I have three kids and I am living with my mom. My ex pays almost nothing and I didnt go to college and have very little job experience because I stayed home to raise my kids. I dont have time to go to school and make just barely too much to get welfare but nowhere near enough to afford rent. What kind of job or business would be wise to pursue where I could make good money in a reasonably short amount of time?

How can a parent be so ignorant about their child's singing talent. I can't believe some of the people that auditioned for American Idol and their parents keep telling them they have a good voice when they sound like a foghorn. Don't you think it is better for the child to be honest with them than to be emabarrassed? So many parents are so afraid of hurting their kid's feelings and lie to them about how good they are at something then when they become adults they are shot down and they are totally disalousioned.
