It all depends on maturity, but if i feel my sons are ready to date at 16 then I plan on letting them. Only If I feel they are mature enough and responsible enough to care for and not mistreat girl they are taking out. For our future daughter, hopefully one of these days, I don't think my husband will let her date until she is like 20, but for me the same rule applies for our girl age 16. Our daughter is going to be my husband's sisters name sake (she passed away over 10 years ago at the age of 16) and I know he is going to be very protective of that little girl, so when she gets to dating age I think he is temporally going to go insane. LOL. This is just my view on teenage dating.
I started dating at 16 and that was my parents rule! Now that I look back on it, I might make them wait. LOL J/K. You have to trust your kids at some point in their life.

I think that letting your teenager date should be a process so that you can determine when they are ready ( and you are ready) for them to go to the next step. The process could start anywhere from 14-16, depending on how long each stage should be. But I think they should be ok to date starting at 16. First, you can let them have a date over and watch a movie or something like that (in an area where they know you can pop in at any time- not the bedroom) Then they could go on a group date. and then they could be allowed to go on a normal date. But if you think they still are not ready, you can only allow daytime dates. But my parents really didnt allow me to date at all, so I had to do it behind their back, and you dont want that.

i would make them wait until they were about 15 or 16. even then, i would be sure to monitor where they were going and who with, etc....
i would have to meet the boy or girl, well most likely the boy, b/c if my son is going to date a girl, then i would expect him to pick her up and meet her parents. that's about the only difference there would be between a boy and a girl.
i grew up in a house with a double standard and it's not fun.
i don't want to do that to my girls, if i have a girl.
now, i think group dates in middle school are acceptable. like, if a few girls and boys want to go to the movies together, then that's o.k. my husband and i would probably go to a different movie and drive everyone...no problem!
i think driving age is a good time to allow actual dating.
take care.

16 years old and then only in groups. It will be the same rule for both genders. No steady/exclusive/single dating until the time for marriage. "dating" in high school is a way to build friendships and see what kind of qualities you admire in others. Also it is a time to learn about yourself.

16 is average and very acceptable. Young adults need to learn how to develop healthy relationships, make mistakes etc. before approaching marriage etc. without experience. There is also a point many will not give you a say in the matter.

Unfortunately yes, I would differentiate between a girl and a boy. Moreover to answer your query it really depends on the teenager. The responsibility levels and such. Good luck.

i feel each child should be allowed to date when they seem mature enough to handle it every child is different i dont feel sex should be a factor here just maturity level each one should be treated as an individual some grow up sooner than others if your child has their head screwed on straight earlier may be OK but if the child has no clue about life they should wait a little longer
