I had a person tell me yesterday that I was a horrible parent for vaccinating my children. She thinks that the government is trying to infect us all with diseases. I don't think all parents that choose not to vaccinate think this way but her comment just blew me away.

She continued to say that I am horrible for the following reasons:
I buy store bought food
I use big bottles
I use binkies
I have a big TV

By the way, I have never met this woman nor have I ever had a conversation with her. Most of the things she said are untrue.
So, I was just wondering how many other horrible parents were out there.

You never met this woman, so are we to assume this is one of those arguments that stemmed from a yahoo answers fiasco? Why are you letting her have so much energy over you?

Let me assure you that most parents don't think this way, whether they vaccinate or not. I personally don't vaccinate my children, but I really don't care what other people do with their children. I have read both sides of the issue and educated myself. I do resent the implication that I'm a bad parent because I don't. Two of my children have lifelong disabilities from their vaccinations, it would be irresponsible of me to vaccinate our children, wouldn't it? All seven of my children have had, mumps, measles, german measles, whooping cough, chicken pox and the flu. They are not dead. They were no sicker than the common cold. If so many people died from these diseases in years gone by, then how did the human race continue? The CDC even says that the number one reason to vaccinate is to prevent parents from missing work. Have you read their website? There is this irrational fear of illness, so much so that people take medicine to reduce a seven day cold to a four day cold, thereby shortcircuiting the immune system. ANYWAY....that's not my whole point.

I do however, love to buy my food from walmart (I mean, what a deal yes?), and I hardly ever buy organic...my babies have had formula, and I push pacifiers just to help them regulate their sucking needs. We have two big TV's, and my kids watch TV whenever they want ;-) So, I guess I'm just all kinds of bad mom there. HUH? LOL You should see the looks I get at LLL meetings.

The world is full of people who want to judge. They seem to forget that whole 'judge not, lest ye be judged'. Should be interesting in the end. Have a nice day.

The thing i have learned is that to someone else, you will always be a bad parent..Because they have different beliefs than you and parenting styles...I've been called a bad parent about 4 times in 2 1/2 years, but only because i have a different thought on what is best for my daughter...I just smile and nod and walk away, then think to myself how many more people that person has told that to...What is even better is when the person or couple doesn't have any kids and they tell you, you are a bad parent(personal experiance with that)..

Another bad parent here!

I guess that odd duck of a woman thinks good parenting means:
1) Allow your child to die from preventable diseases.
2) Growing your own food, including cattle, pigs, and chickens for meat and dairy.
3) Breast feeding is the ONLY acceptable way to feed your baby.
4) Pacifiers are created by Satan and will make your child grow into an oral sex fiend.
5) Big TV's will make you go blind (along with the pacifiers).

I hope the guys show up soon to put her back in the jacket with sleeves that tie in the back.

Oh...a tree hugger....don't worry about those, you should have just said "I can hear an annoying buzzing noise in my ear" and walked away. If that is the case then my parents were the most awful, evil people on the planet...we were all vaccinated, we all ate store bought food, I don't know what a binkie is but I bet we had those too!! We had 5 tv's!! I wish some people would keep their opinions to themselves, I hope you realised how laughable her comments were.

I have 6 kids~ all of them have been vacinated, all of them have been bottle fed, all of them have had binkies, and (Heaven Forbid) I feed them all store bought food! If that's all it takes to be an awful mother when there's women out there who are neglecting, abusing, and even killing their kids then I guess I'm an awful mother. But I think this lady needs to get off of her high horse and take a good look in the mirror cuz I highly doubt that shes so perfect that it gives her the right to put anyone else down! Someone needs to point out to her that our kids ain't dead yet, and neither are we, because of vaccinations! I don't know about you but I had them when I was growing up, and I'm not sick from them!

We are all horrible parents. No matter what you choose to do there will always be that opinionated, know-it-all, my choice is the only choice, busy-body who gets in your face to tell you that you are totally, completely wrong and abusive. It is that way with so many issues; Vaccinating vs. not vaccinating, formula vs. breast, spanking vs. time out, etc.
You do what you think is best for your child and ignore these people - especially those that don't know you.

She may not choose to vaccinate her kids now but when they are adults they'll probally have to especially if they want certain jobs. I knew a lady like this and her kids ended up getting them when they were adults.

Yes, let's live like we're in a third world country a risk of getting TB and many other diseases. Some people are just out there, on this big health nut trip, taking it a bit to far some time's.

I could argue this the other way around as well....although my oldest two are vaccinated my youngest daughter is not for health reasons.
I have been bashed and accused of being a bad mother because my child is not vaccinated. I have been told she should not have the right to attend public school like other vaccinated children(which makes no sense IF YOUR chidren are vaccinated and they work properly then why is MY child a danger to yours...wouldn't it be the other way around?)

My two that are vaccinated have still gotten some of the diseases they are vaccinated for...so I just don't feel it is safe to inject the poisons into their bodies when they don't work effectively anyway.

I am not saying people who do vaccinate are bad...your not but I also believe people should respect my choice when I say my daughter is not vaccinated.

Uhmm, I would tell this crack head lady to mind her own business. She is obviously the one that is corrupt and she is just trying to persuade others so she is not the only looney!! If that is the qualifications for bad parenting, then I think you should just sign up the majority of the population! And tell her not to go around crying to everyone when her child contracts polio :- )
