My husband and I are organising the children's activities for a family camp / retreat over a weekend. We need about 4-5 hours of activities. It is just at the end of summer. We will have about 30 kids from 4-10 years old. We have done this before and done Cowboys & Indians, Wizard of Oz, Pirates, Mini Olympics. We can't have water activities. Have good big room facilities for games, craft and art supplies, DVD player, TV etc and there should be a big outdoor play area. Thought some of you might have some good fresh ideas, themes, games, crafts, etc.

Hi everyone, I just moved to San Fran and found a great nanny job through an agency. It pays really well and the scheduling is perfect with my school schedule. Anyways, There are four children total (school aged). and the Mom is a stay-at-home mom. I have been a nanny before but always when the parents were at work or home for maybe half the day... Has anyone had experience with being a nanny and having the parent be at home the whole time? Is it weird? Was your experience good or bad? I don't have anything to hide but Im just curious about people's experiences.

My girls are 6 and 9, and I'm scared at how they will react when they find out there is a new baby on the way. Any suggestions?

This is more geared towards mothers. At what age would you put your daughter on birth control. And if they were the ones who asked you for it, how would you feel?

As for me I completely disagree with it. "Spare the rod, Spoil the child." I have a two year old and I will never beat her and I've never spanked her more than once on the bottom and "over" her diaper. When I see a child who over reacts when he does't get something in the store and a parents doesn't do anything about it, it makes me cringe because I can never imagine my child behaving that way. I spank my daughter only when I've told her more than once to stop something and she doesn't listen, which is very rare. And believe me, my daughter is the most well behaved two year old I've ever seen and I've pretty much been told that by everyone. I as a child was spanked and I came out pretty good and I thank my parents for disciplining me in that way because if it wasn't for that then who knows where I might have ended up.

If a parent has 2 kids & shows favoritism towards the younger child, do you think that it can lead to the older child being jealous?

I am thinking about offering my home to a child in need. I need to know what is required and how much one will receive for caring for a foster child.

I have an 8 yr old girl a 5 yr old girl and 1 on the way I am divorced and recently engaged to my fiance he has a child a 4 yr old boy that we see on weekends ....I admit my children are not angels and they seem to have a smartmouth on them. But I cant see spanking my children as he thinks I should Mind you he does not spank his child for anything his excuse is he only sees him on weekends ...but why does that make a diffrence? If he feels so strongly about disiplining my children with a spanking why doesn't he feel the same way about his own? When I refuse to hit my children for the things that they do he calls me a bad mom and says they will run over me when they are older but with him always bashing me for it I dont even want to get onto them at all when its needed please help with my situation I am lost with what to do

my interview coach said I should say that I've been looking since then but I don't want to lie and it would also appear that I haven't found a job in 5 months if I did this. I appreciate your response. I could use some wording that sounds precise and professional without saying (" I was being a Mom and enjoying my kids full time for 5 months") Thanks to all!

I know that money is usually an option, but aside from that I'm wondering what the mindset behind each decision when a mother decides to stay at home and when a mother decides to go back to work. I realize this is a touchy subject, I'm not looking for bashing or insulting, just an understanding of both sides. What are your feelings on the matter?

What do you think is best? Or do you think it is a woman's personal decision to see what works the best in their own home without being critized for either choice.

Usually I have a crazy dream before I wake up (anywhere from 2:00am to 5:00am) and after I pee and get back into bed I can't fall asleep sometimes for up to an HOUR!!! AHHHH....EVERY NIGHT....Not just maybe 3 or 4, but EVER SINGLE night. It's driving me crazy becuase I'm losing sleep...why is this happening???

What factors cause this to happen? Is it because their parents ignore them? They aren't encouraged to have hobbies? If a child grows up in a rough area does it have to follow that they will become a troubled child? Is it possible to raise a happy, responsible child on a council estate?
I value your opinions on this because I live in a wonderful area now but it is only a 2 bed and soon Iwill have to buy a three bed elsewhere and I will have to buy in a worse area because of monety shortage. So I am worried that my children will become druggies or layabouts.

I have a 8 month old baby and I can't seem to get it together, I am always late to work, and my appts. I have a great mom who helps out which is great , but I plan on moving further away from my parents and I would like to be better organized on my own. How do I manage a young baby with such things as preparing daily meals, going grocery shopping and keeping the house in order without having to go to bed after 12 am on weeknights and not skipping out on spending quality time with baby?

Why is it that my parents treat me differently than my brother? We are only two years apart, I'm 15 and he's 17, but they treat me like I'm still in middle school when he does whatever he wants without any questions asked. but when it comes to me goin out an doin things they are always so skeptical. Also, they demand way more from me than they do from him. Like, they only accept straight A's from me but they let him just slide by with c's in every class. Another thing, why am I the one that has to watch my little bro while he goes out and does whatever the hell he wants? I don't get anything in return for it either. I've confronted my parents about it and they just give me some excuse like "your the responsible one" or "you don't do anything else for us so you can consider this your chore" but that second one makes no since because my other brothers don't do a friggin thing! I mean for god's sake; my older bro never even comes home! Please tell me what I should tell my parents!

My cousin is 25 and having her first baby.

She has always been a heavy drinker and parties with her friends at bars, concerts and house parties with 5-10 people.

She has friends who bring their babies to the house parties and drink with their little kids and babies there. They spend the day after the parties hung over while their parents watch their children. They have the motto of “Why should I stop partying when I am still young?”

My cousin says she has no intention to stop partying when the baby gets here. She plans to take the baby along to house parties and hang out with her drunk friends and her husband is okay with this too.

I know it’s not my kid, but this upsets me so much. I am pregnant with my first baby too and I wouldn’t even take my dog to a place where people are drinking out of control!

Do you think it’s appropriate to take a baby with you to house parties or out drinking?

I'd like to know what your thoughts are on grandchildren. Would you be disappointed if your children never had kids of their own, so you could not fulfil the grandparenting role?

Is your opinion the general concensus amongst most parents?

Thank you for your time, this question wasn't meant as an offence so I apologise in advance if it seems that way.

I am having my first baby in the summer. I will be home for 3 months after the baby’s birth. I have to go back to work because we can’t get medical insurance through my husband’s employer, and my husband’s paychecks are not 100% stable due to his business industry.

I have worked out a new schedule with my boss, I will work from 7:30am to 2pm everyday and my mom will watch the baby while I work.

Are you a mother to a young child and work outside the home? How do you deal with it?

I have to work or we won’t be able to make the modest mortgage payments on our house. I REFUSE to allow my husband to work two jobs, that is out of the question as he wants to be with the child as much as possible too.

Will I feel guilty?
