I'm 16 weeks pregnant and I have no issues whatsoever falling asleep. HOWEVER, I will wake up in the middle of the night to pee and from then on I'm doomed. Usually I have a crazy dream before I wake up (anywhere from 2:00am to 5:00am) and after I pee and get back into bed I can't fall asleep sometimes for up to an HOUR!!! AHHHH....EVERY NIGHT....Not just maybe 3 or 4, but EVER SINGLE night. It's driving me crazy becuase I'm losing sleep...why is this happening???

I don't know why it happens but it happened to me too!
The only way I could get back to sleep was to go into the guest bedroom, put something BORING on TV and then set the sleep timer to 45 minutes (being optimistic). Usually I would be lulled to sleep by the monotone sounds of CSPAN or the Catholic Channel- and then get some needed Z's.

Well I don't know why, but I have a few things that help with insomnia. Reading makes you tired, it's often helped me become sleepy again, listening to music, getting a glass of water, but sometimes none of this helps! An hour isn't that long to get to sleep, once I tried to get to sleep for 3 hours.
The most I can offer you as to why is probably because when you're pregnant, you need to pee more, because your uterus is putting pressure on your bladder, so that explains the need to use the bathroom, as for the insomnia, sometimes when you wake up in the middle of the night and get up to do something, it wakes you up and it can be hard to shut down your (conscious) brain again, especially if you're stressed...
I hope some of this will help and good luck with the baby!

It's kinda like taking a late nap and not being able to go to bed early, you've already had some sleep, so it's not like you're really 'tired'. I would suggest cutting down on the liquids about an hour or two before bed, then you shouldn't have a problem. And the bladder is a stupid organ, it's not sure if it has urine in it or not, it just feels pressure from the growing baby. Good Luck and Congrats.

make sure you pee before you go to bed. I pee about 3 times before i actually sleep. i heard that pee should not wake you up...I wake up around 2am and sleep at 5am...but to make up for it, i take a 3-4 hour nap during the day to make up for it.

this has happened to me recently too even though I'm not pregnant! though it might just be your pregnancy, i'd suggest peeing a few times before you go to bed and don't drink too many liquids right before bed.

your pregnant! that's what pregnancy is. if you can't fall back asleep go to a different room and try to relax some rest is better than none at all.
