I am thinking about offering my home to a child in need. I need to know what is required and how much one will receive for caring for a foster child.

It really depends on what state you live in. In missouri, you are required to take about 3 months of night classes, about twice a week. There are back ground checks and a homestudy willl be done. You have to have a dresser for every child and fire extinguishers etc. You really need to check with your county to and i think they would send you some free information. As for the money, it depends on the child. I really troubled child gets more money a month. I think it varies around three hundred to four hundre dollars per child per month, at least in missouri. I hope this helps and i think you are doing a great thing.

Requirements vary by state. Where I live you have to go to classes for 2 months every weekend, pass a criminal background check, have your home inspected, you must be married {why I do not know I know more stable singles then I do married persons} here you get about 1000 a month max and the child must have their own bedroom
