My son is 16 years old and I am worried when he goes on the internet. I hide our keyboard and set up our webcam to tape to see if he goes on it as I am worried about predators. I check his email account through a program that records keystrokes. However I still fear for his safety. What else can I do to prevent him?

i was on toms email accout to print something when i saw a email from an old gf.she sent it 1 day ago and tom did not see it yet and does not know i read it then deleted it.this is what it said tom how are you?it was nice to see you again even if u did give me the cold shoulder.your girls are so big!mary.tom never told me he ran into her and shes not just any old gf.they have a long history and he left his 1st wife for her 5yrs ago.it sounds like he just ran into her at the store or something with his girls.my questions are what do you guys make of her email?why would she make a comment about him giving her a cold shoulder?what was she expecting?does it sound like she is after him again?i know your thinking well he gave her the cold shoulder why worry.i can't help and wonder if he gave her the cold shoulder only becuase the girls were with him and he wanted to get out of there before anything was said. they are old enough to repeat what they hear and turn him in to me or their mom.

I called them boys because any guy that doesn't take care of their kids is a boy and not a man. My fiance is the best father two little girls can have. He works his butt off yet still plays with them. He's working out of state right now but even before that when he was home, he's find time for them. It didn't matter if he worked an eight hour day or a 12 hour day he'd play with them. His brother is totally opposite. This guy has 6 kids by 4 different women, doesn't pay child support for any, never sees 3 of the kids. How can two brothers be totally different when it comes to their kids? my fiance was raised by his mother because his dad left her for another woman when he was 3 years old. His brother was raised by their dad. They don't have the same mom. Is it because of who they were raised by?

My seven year old son habitually bites and picks his nails -- he has since he was two. I have not been able to clip his nails for years. I have tried everything from having him wear gloves to nail biting nail polish. Sometimes he picks his nails so low that they bleed. Any suggestions?

I work at a daycare and many of the children are there from at least 7am to 6pm (right at closing). It upsets me when moms and dads come to pick up their kids after they have done all their shoppings/errands/stopped home/relaxed etc. A majority of the children are in daycare over 55 hours (M-F) only to go home, eat dinner, and go to bed by 8. It happens more than one would think. Do parents experience any guilt by doing this? Or is it just "easier" to do those things without the chidren.

about six months ago my friend got a divorce. they got joint custody of twin girls, 50/50,but he had to pay full child support, carry insurance.after about a month the mother tells him she does not have time for the kids. so he takes them in 24/7 but still has to pay her child support.it takes 6 months before he can go to court to get custody,he gets full custody but she doesnt have to pay child support(why?)she is fully able to work if she gets off the drugs.if this was the other way around he would have to pay back the child support, start paying child support.and probably put in jail.the child support would help but im glad he has custody for the childrens sake.

This puzzles me. A few friends or mine were pregnant at the same time I was. I was already living with the father of my child. Another friend moved in with her boyfriend almost immediately after she found out she was pregnant. Two others stayed at their parents' houses. One works in a fast food restaraunt and I don't even think the other one works. I understand that parents always want to support their children but at the same time wouldn't they want their grown children to do for themselves? I also understand in cases where the military is involved. Wouldn't they want to tell their kids, "You have a family of your own, now is the time to be responsible?" Maybe I just don't understand it.

I am a first time mom. My son is now 19 mos. old.

Well, though I do pray about this, and try to not get too absorbed with it, I guess I still fear something happening to my son. I know that kids need to explore, play sports, ride bikes, and certainly go places where thier parents can't always be at, but how do you get over the worry?

My own childhood was pretty awful, so I guess I know first hand what can happen to children, and that just makes it worse. Plus, I am a single mom and my son was a true unexpected miracle. So that just makes me worry more about losing him. I just love him so much.

Thanks in advance for any insights you have. I never want my son to feel smothered or held back by my fears as he grows older.

How old do you start talking to your children about drugs and alcohol. My son is 9 and came home saying that his friend said his parents smoke pot. I really didnt know how to respond. I told him that was wrong. We really didnt go into it any more. Im wondering when we should sit him down and really talk to him about the effects these things can have on your life.

Thank you

My New Year's resolution is to get more organized. I am off of work until January 4th and have been cleaning out drawers, closets, etc. Now I am trying to make easy to make (but healthy) menus. I work full time & have 2 kids, and usually have the same meals each week. Point me in the direction to plan, cook , and get it together when it comes to meals each week. Do you plan weekly meals? The kids get happy meals and pizza at least 2-3 times a week, and I want to stop this during the week, but just can't get it together! Thanks for the suggestions!

I know several cases like that. Parents and kids are great people but yet kids have strong resentment and there seems to be no solution.

My son moved back home with me 6 mouths ago after moving away for a year, the first 3 mouths he didn't pay anything because he was out of work, sent Sept, He has given me anywhere from a $100-200 a mouth for expenses, this includes Rent, elecritiy,water.garbage,sewer.cable tv,high speed interent, and food, when he had a girlfriend she would stay for days at a time, and he also has several guy friends that crash here also for days at a time(we used to live in the country, now in the city) so his friends would come over and stay because it was so expensive to drive back and forth to work. anyway my point is I have to ask my son all the time to help pitch in, I don't feel that I should ask,it makes my feel uncomfortable with my hand out, I am getting tired of it. He says I give you $200. what more do you want? But I feel I am being taken advantage of, I don't want my relationship with my son, to be ruined over money!!! But I am going to the poor house, What can I say or do?

My brothers wife has a daughter who lives with her dad about 1 1/2 hrs. away. My brothers wife had custody of this child when he met her, but she and her ex never got legal documents saying who had custody, and the dad ended up going and filing first, so a judge gave the girl to him. My sister n law had a difficult life growing up, dealing with being molested, neglected, having a druggy mother, and a father who wasn't around. About 1 1/2 yrs. after she married my brother, she had severe depression and tried to commit suicide. She has since undergone phyciatric treatment and medication and is considered stable. But her ex used this to get a judge to take away her visitation rights, and now she only sees this child every other weekend for 3 hours supervised. I only see this kid about 2-3 times a year, but my sister n law gets really upset if we don't all act like she is our blood kin. When I tell people how many nieces I have she wants me to include her kid. I hardly know this kid.

I always keep an eye on what my kids watch and it seem that the Nick channel is getting trashier and lowering it's moral values. I am not a prude, but I don't like the values it teaches, i.e. backtalking, and portraying girls as sex objects. And yes, I have turned it off and gone back to PBS if anyone wonders.
