I always keep an eye on what my kids watch and it seem that the Nick channel is getting trashier and lowering it's moral values. I am not a prude, but I don't like the values it teaches, i.e. backtalking, and portraying girls as sex objects. And yes, I have turned it off and gone back to PBS if anyone wonders.

We don't have regular television in our home. We can watch movies, but that's it. We don't get channels.

Yes, Nickelodeon has gone way downhill. It's fine for older kids but what I don't understand is how you have the choice of Dora for girls (which is appropriate for pre-schoolers) and Spongebob for boys (which is NOT appropriate for pre-schoolers) in just about all marketing aspects.

Nick Jr. seems o.k. You've got Blue's Clues and Dora and Little Bill. Those are fine. But putting a 2 year old in front of spongebob just isn't appropriate in my opinion.

It was a much different, and far better channel when it first came out.

I don't know why people think kids can only be entertained by burps and farts and lewd behavior. It's just gross.

I agree with you 100%! I never let my children watch it... all the shows are trashy and teach children horrific values. My daughter watched it even though I said no so I went back to basic, basic cable so I only get pbs and the news channels. In my opinion most television is bad for children. Even Disney has gone over the edge. This is why today's new generation is so rude and bold. The television they watch shows kids doing that and getting away with it. I am sorry if anyone is offended but it is my opinion and I hope some of you agree.

Lady you are Crazy! Nickolodean is a perfectly fine channel for kids to watch and so is PBS but I think Nickolodean is just as good for kids to watch.

To me, even PBS is lacking the degree of educational programming it used to have. What ever happened to all the nature shows? Or the geographic specials?

But I do agree, theres nothing but senseless mindless garbage on the childrens television channels. Even the saturday morning cartoon are pretty pathetic.

Atleast the cartoons from the 80's had some moral values and lessons to learn. These days its all about killing monsters and who's the coolest, and tiny bratz like characters who argue over who's the prettiest.

Pathetic.

Well I some times watch That channel but to me its ok But its getting a bit idiotic for me and for like little little kids about 2-5 years old but yeah in the mornings Its not very educational and i think you should not let your child watch it if you think its not ok because your raising your child not me so it is your opinion.

I used to let my kids watch Dora, Diego, Wonder Pets, etc. But as soon as Spongebob came on, it was time to change the channel. I think the Disney Channel is worse. PBS is the channel of choice for us.

Nickolodeon basis its shows off of all viewers. They have kids shows in the morning, and pre-teen shows in the afternoons after they get out of school. I dont think its trash. Its just what kids are growing into at that certain age. Nick is just trying to appeal to kids of all ages.

Not all of the shows are bad , there are some really good ones on there for children. I like the Disney Channel better, more variety and more wholesome shows. PBS is good too, but my kids didn't care for it too much.

Nick is terrible! Back in the 80s Nick was the channel to watch, but now it seems they're trying to go to the extreme. PBS, luckily, is still around to show quality shows. I don't blame you turning it off.. we did too!

We watch it (and Disney) in our house. I watch it with my kids so that we can talk about what's going on and why it's not appropriate and better ways to handle situations.

It's been a big help to me, since I'm not always with them when they are socializing, and it mimics what's going on in real life. if you don't realize that...then you are in trouble! Even the preteen shows, my fourth grader said that stuff like that happened all the time at their school!
