This has happened already, and she's already tried to hit me,and she's told me she hated me. Im so hurt by her not caring about good grades, I've even showed her the bad parts of town where people who dont go to school live. i've showed her the rich part where "good grades" live. I again took away her video games. We show lots of love at home. So I guess my question is, how do I punish my 11 year old?

My 9 month old throws tantrums if he doesn't get his way. I have tried to distract him by redirecting him to a new activity but it doesn't seem to help. I don't want to give in and give him a toy( or whatever he is screaming for) because I don't want him to think that by screaming he will get what he wants. Any suggestions?

do you think that if all the angry tax payers started getting angry at the ABSENT PARENT instead of assuming that everything is so bloody black+white all the time things would be better?why is it always assumed that when a teen or whoever, ends up raising children on there own it was a planned act?what about the fathers/mothers that just walk away, never work+therefore dont contribute....shouldn,t you be angry at them?for the parent left with child/ren its not always easy to find work or if you can find work, resources that will look after the child/ren whilst you do.god help any of you holyer than thow tax payers should you or your children ever need to claim benefits+for all the people that condem death on the teen mum please dont have children yourselves because one day you may find yourselves grandparents to the offspring of these tax sucking teens.there are far more apparent worthy causes screwing the system than single parents.

I'm thinking about having my daughter call my friends "Aunt so-and-so" instead of "Mrs. so-and-so." Just because I think the "Mr. and Mrs." is a bit too formal, but I still want her to address them in a respectful manner because they are adults. How do you handle this with your kids?

Normally my mother keeps our children, so this is the very first time I have ever hired an outside sitter. She is the daughter of our preacher. We have 3 boys, 6, 5 and 16 months. The 6 and 5 year olds will go to bed at 7:30 PM. We will already have them ready for bed. The 16 month old will go to bed at 8:30. We are going to the ballet, we will be gone from 6:45-9:30. How much should I pay her? Do I need to call her and see if she wants something in paticular to drink? Any other little tips that I should know for babysitting etiquite? Thanks.

My son seems to think I should trust him while my hubby and I are both gone for 8 days this summer and even though he is a straight a student and never in trouble- isnt that just too much????? Is it even legal to do that? I do trust my son with all my heart but something could happen that even he cant handle ya know?????????? How can I convince him without making him feel like I dont trust him? I thought maybe he could spend it with his best friend and they are ok with it too but he wants to be ON HIS OWN for a whole week and I think its too much too soon! Am I wrong?

I am a single mother of three kids, 3, 9, and 12! Why sometimes do they make me so mad that I feel like I am going crazy? And how can I get them to understand that if they just pick up after themselves, 1.) I wouldn't have to nag, and 2.) there wouldn't be as much work to do, and 3.) I wouldn't be so mad all the time. Why don't they get it? Do I expect too much from them?

How many parents out there have talked (or will talk to) their teenagers about sex....not just the birds and the bees...but include ways to prevent pregnancy, STD's, STI's? I have a 15 month old daughter. I know that when she does become a teenager, I am going to sit down with her and lay EVERYTHING out on the table (abstinence, pregnancy, STD's, STI's, prevention, morals etc...etc). I'll even offer to help her get birth control and/or other methods of protection. The way I see it, it's not GIVING permission to have sex as a teenager, but I have to do MORE than JUST HOPE she won't make bad choices and deal with the consequences later. I think that if teenagers are going to start becoming sexually active, then they'll do it weather the parents like it or not. I would rather my child go through her teen years well informed, than come to me one day at the age of 16 and tell me that she's pregnant (or worse); with me regretting that I didn't at least talk to her. How do you feel?
