I've noticed that people who have children always seem to have long faces that look like they are highly pissed off (especially the women). Hell I went to Best Buy the other day and every single parent had a face of death like they had some type of serious depression and the young, childless people in the store (14-24) were having a ball and just smiling away. Why is that? Not just at BB but pretty much at every store and/or social setting I go to.

My guy and I have been together for 7 months now and I really love his kids. His ex-wife is also really great about letting us take them whenever we want and allowing me to come along on family oriented things like dr. appts., the family counseling, christmas shopping, ect.. My problem is that I have asked my step-son several times to call me Phe, but he calls me mommy anyways. This wouldn't bother me except that on outings with his mother I can see that it bothers her. He also has his sister calling me mommy now. I've asked their father to talk to him about it, but he says it's just a phase and he thinks it's cute. I don't know what to do! I don't want to see his mother be hurt by this and I surely don't want her to think I'm trying to replace her in his life. What can I do to fix this problem?

My fiance has full cutody of his two girls yet he allows the mother to have visitation and she doesn't have the same rules as we do. To be frank ~ she doesn't have any.

Anyway, when it is just me and the girls, his 6 year old will regularly thow these HUGE fits. When I try to disipline her, (ie timeout or bedtime without snack) and it doesn't work, I tell her that I am going to let her dad handle it and she flips out. Then she tells me that she wants her mommy (which she only brings up in situations like this.)

I don't believe in spanking (and I wouldn't in this case because these are not my children), but she FREAKS out whenever I mention her Dad. I am at my witts end because I find myself arguing with a 6 year old and that is just plain stupid. I really don't want to involve her Dad because it starts off as being a small and petty thing and before I know it is BIG HUGE thing and I wonder how much of it is my doing.

Please only serious answers. Thank you

Do you feel that you are doing a good job of spending quality time with each individual child in addition to 'quality' time with both/all the kids? I work full time and I sometimes feel that I do not get enough quality time individually with my children--especially my 6 year old. My little one is 14 months so it will be a little while before he notices, but I really feel that I'm slighting my six year old...it's true we don't have as much time together as we used to before my son came along, but I feel like I'm REALLY short changing her. Am I the only one???

I was just wondering how crazy some folks get buying till they are tapped dry. I have done some reading on Yahoo Answers and see some folks spend upwards of $500 per child!

What did you get your kids this year?

I got my 12 year old: Digital camera accessories (to go with a 3 year old digital camera I upgraded from), Electronic hand held 20 questions and a The Fray CD.

I got my 8 year old: A barbie styling head, a birdhouse art kit, the 20 questions hand held game and Trouble (the board game).

I'm pretty proud that both will get what they want and I did NOT go broke. I spent only about $100 (not including the digital camera)

This past weekend, my husband and I left our 2 yr old with a sitter while we went out to the movies to see Saw 3. While at the movies, there was not one, but 2 toddlers there in the movie theater. Can you believe that someone would actually let their young child see this movie? I was so upset I felt sick to my stomach.

I have 5 children however 3 of them are in school and play sports. I have 2 girls who play volleyball and a son in football! I am going crazy trying to shuttle everyone to and from practice/games. We live in the country so its not as if I can go home till the next has to go! Any good routine, or organizing pratices would be much appreciated because I still have a toddler and a newborn to contend with! Before you ask....yes daddy does help when he can however is job requires him to be oncall nights and weekends so its never a gaurantee that I have an extra set of hands!

I have a 7-yr old and a 4-yr old who don't take care of their things! I know that's maybe a lot to expect out of the 4 year old, however, putting things away when you are finished with them isn't a lot to ask. I have cleaned their room and organized it many many times. I have thrown things away, I have purchased totes and labeled them, I have tried many many things to help them keep their things nice. However, there is stuff everywhere!! I can't control it! They seriously don't own all the parts and pieces to one toy because things are lost the moment they go upstairs. I asked my oldest when the last time she saw all the parts to her Barbie house and she said when it was in the box! how sad is that? Ok so everyone probably thinks I am a mean tyrant, however I think that being thankful and taking good care of ones things is a good lesson to learn. Any suggestions on how else I can do this??
I have taken away their radio now until their room is clean. I dont know what else to do

I have a Nasty, mean and cruel 12 yr old. She is my husbands daughter and my stepdaughter although I have had her since she was 8 weeks old and she has never seen her mother because she is in prison. She was the sweetest baby and young child but as she has gotten older she has gotten horrible. She has been diagnoised with a reactive attachment disorder and sees a theripist but i am at my wits end. She is deviant and abusive to her younger sisters. She wants to dress like a stripper and can't keep friends. I just don't know what to do. I have been married to her father for 11 yrs and I love him dearly but a part of me wants to just take the girls and leave so that they can live in peace. Anyone have a child like this and what did you do??

First of all I don't have any kids I am wondering if there are still some people who would disown their own flesh and blood.

So would you disown your child if....

they chose a religion you're against or they believe in God and you don't?

Your son/daughter raped or murdered someone or both?

Your son/daughter lies a lot or steals from you or stores or robs a bank?

Your son/daughter decides to be gay/lesbian/bisexual?

Now before ppl go flying off the handle.
I am going to pay the support!

I am currently out of a job a year+.
I barely make a living and stay with friends when possible.
I have a child, hes 3 months ...and I love him very much...even though the mother did things to make sure she gets pregnant by me to "trap" me into marriage...
Anyway, I send down what I can.
even if its $50 that I could really use.
How will I be charged child support right now with no job or income?

Will courts fine me when I get a job and want all the support and interest at one time?

Ex...when I get a 50k/yr job will the court order me to pay 20% plus interest on the year I didnt have a job?

I want to take care of my son, but I dont want to put myself back in the hole because of my sons mothers spite. I will buy him toys and things he need even now, I try, but what will the court order me to do for this year I have no job?

Im concerned about the 20% amount, will they try and do it now or later

A father has a 13 year old son that lives with him. The son has been getting in a lot of trouble for his attitude and disrespectful behaviour in school. He is in counseling and the talk is he might even have to go on meds. The father is all ready gone twice a week in the evenings on school nights, the son spends 1/2 of those evenings with his mother, but then is home without his dad being there for at least an hour or so after he gets home at 8:00 from his mothers. The father is considering another activity which would take him out of the house at least one more day during the week and occassionally on week-ends. Is this a good idea to leave the son alone so much? What would you tell him about the importance of spending more time with his son? What else comes to mind when you think of this scenerio?

Last night my step-son who is 8 came into the kitchen with a big red welt on his forehead and asked his dad if he could see it. When his dad asked him what happened, he explained that he had punched himself in the head repeatidly. When we asked him why he would do that, he just said "I don't know".
My step-son has had what I would consider an unfortunate childhood at times. He and his sister switch from our house to their mothers house every 3 months. The lifestyles at each house are VERY different and I've always thought this to be hard on the kids. The mother got remarried about 2 years ago and her new husband was very abusive to my step-son, mostly mental but some physical abuse also. He and the mom are now divorced, although they have a child together so he's still around sometimes. My step-son also has a form of dwarfism that keeps him from getting to play sports and he knows he'll be shorter than everyone. I'm worried that there's more going on in his head than he can handle.
