My 8 yr old nephew is steeling from other kids in after care & then lying about it (among other things he lies about). We've tried spanking, "steeling" everything from him till there is only his bed and dresser in his room, & now writing sentences. Nothing seems to phase him. He is a great child besides that; very respectful when u speak 2 him & caring with his 2 younger brothers. He lives with his father & (soon to be) step mother that he calls mommy (of his own choice). His biological mother is not in the picture and has not been for quite some time. He was having problems in school the first few years (lying and acting out), but this year he is extreamly good in school and home, but not in after care where he has tried to steel other kids' things. After care has separated his cubby from everyone else's to make sure he is not steeling things, but this has no effect either. Now, a few of the parents are not allowing their kids to play w/ him anymore, still w/ no effect. Please advise

It seems that a baby is 24/7/365 hard work, so where and when and how do parents find or make the time for themselves, their own interests, and their hobbies? How does being a parent help a person to self-actualize, if the great majority of their attention, time, resources, money and energy is allocated to tending a baby, working and tending their homes?

Also, why do a lot of women, once they have children, seem to let go of their personal identities or at least put their identities on the back burner, and become mothers first and foremost? Is motherhood THAT all-encompassing? You are yourself first, then a wife if you choose, then a mother if you choose. How hard is it to balance all your roles?

I'm 38 and not interested in having a child. I'm asking because my adult friendships have changed now that some of my friends have children. They're not "themselves" as much; they're more mothers, and I'm finding it hard to relate. Any help is most appreciated. Thank you.

We have been married now for 7 months and have a very good relationship, we've both been very influentional in changing each others lives for the better. I have 2 children from a previous marriage, my kids love him dearly, especially my son. We do not have contact with my husband's girls because, 1-the relationship with the mother was really bad, 2-she cheated on him, 3-he doesn't even know if 1 of them is even his. We are seeing a lawyer today to see what we need to do so that my husband doesn't "get taken". She has and does get state assistance (that she hasn't always been entitled to) and now they want him to repay this because she has been lying to the state for they last 5 years. He wants paternity testing, but the judge may deni this because he signed the paternity affidavite in the hospital when they were born. He (and we) can't afford to pay insurance and child support on additional children. Call us bad people, but can he relinquish rights and not have to pay anything?

I have three great kids! My two older children are in school full time and my youngest is in pre-school, half days. Now that my children are self-sufficent, how do I start organizing my life and my home. I feel that for 9 years I have been helping my chidren, how do I start thinking of myself, my home and my life. If there is anyone who has a great schedule please feel free to help. If I don't have a routine going, I go crazy.
Thanks

she swears, is cheeky, answers back, is always chausing chaos, will not listen to my partner at all and seems to try to play us off each other, she is rude to people calling them mingers, if someone perhaps smells a bit that gets on the bus u can guarrentee my daughter will tell them,,,, i have curbed her tantrums the best that i can but she is stubborn to the max, deffiant, sly, she lies so much about silly things and breaks all her toys,,, she isnt spoilt because we have cut back on getting her things because she breaks them all. We have moved into an extended family with older children here but she isnt loosing attention infact she gets more but she really is out of control,,, in other ways she is so forward, she can count, is out nappies, knows basic shapes, colours etc, i know it cant be adhd cos she is so good for my parents when they look after her sometimes but with me she is out of control completely... any ideas????

On the news today there is a case of a 4 year old who has "depression" because her local school has no room for her, and this is where her friends go. She has to go to a different school. I think the parents must be building this up at home instead of concentrating on being positive about the new school, and the new friends she will make. What do you think?

are these rules I've written into a contract she has to sign unreasonable?
"-I will be polite and courteous to all members of the household at all times while visiting
-Appropriate clothing will be worn at all times, i.e; no bathing suits, no short shorts/skirts or excessively revealing attire.
-there will be no hanging out in bedrooms without permission.
-there will be no leaving the premises to go for a "walk" without adult supervision
-there will be no making out or any other sexual activity inside or outside the house."

If a mom had your childs gf/bf sign something like this would you be mad?

I feel like a failure as a parent. I don't know if I don't push him enough or what but everytime I suggest trying he gets all nervous about it. I would love to take him on bike rides with me, but he doesn't want to learn anything new. The other day we as a family went for a walk in the forest preserve to see the pretty leaves changing color. We brought a football to throw around and he is afraid of the ball! He tried to catch it a few times and gave up after it hit his finger (he was fine). I tell him how great he is and try to encourage him but he acts like such a baby sometimes. I hope I'm not coming off as a bad parent, but I just don't want my son to be afraid to ride a bike or play sports. He gives up so easily. He is in Gymnastics and is great at it. Any advice?

i remember when i was a kid"1970's" i use to have the cheapest shoes imagineable. let's put it this way i had imitation ''converse'' instead of the star it had a cat logo. for halloween i was superman for 3 years straight, with the old school plastic costumes.now i'm all grown up and have 2 kids of my own.my daughter is 9 years and seems to need new shoes every month, that goes the same for my 2 year old son.i don't know if my wife is spoiling them, or now in days every kid has to be in the latest trend.
