My 12 year old daughter wants a myspace acct. I had concidered it, but decided against it.one thing that kept me from it is that even though people that your child knows and you trust are on there, they can still READ what others have posted and pictures and such. At 15, it depends on how much I trust my daughter at that time whether or not she will have one. I have one, and I occationally let her view mine, but only when I know that my comments arent offensive. However it is a great way to keep up with long lost friends.

I have a myspace account but it is set to private. When my child gets to be a teenager i would have to say no to myspace cause some kids will give out personal info and i would not be allowing it. I did not have a myspace account until i was 26 so i think my son can wait until he is 18 but by the time he reaches that age myspace will be so out of style.

I have a 13y/o and a 16 y/o They both have a Myspace account. I monitor both of them very closely. We only have one pc in our house, and it's in the family room, so anytime that they are on the computer, I'm well aware of what is going on. I can see where it could get out of hand very quickly without proper supervision. It's just like everything else with teenagers, on one hand, they do need their own space to talk to friends and hang out and be kids, and do "teen stuff", but at the same time they need to be supervised. If kids are allowed to "run wild" nine times out of ten...they will! Just make sure you (as a parent) are the one staying in control of, and on top of the situation. Hope this helps.

Well, I'm not a parent. I would let my children have a myspace, though, if they did NOT post their photos or personal information (like their full name, location, etc) and I would have them set it to private. Myspace is a sort of haven for sexual predators, so I'd take proper precautions.

We allow our two girls ages 15 and 12 to have them- but we also are administrators on the computer. We know the passwords and can monitor every site and IM conversation they have. My space is such a touchy area... we've sat them down and expressed our concerns and rules.
I guess this is when they start getting to that independent age where you hope you've given them the right tools to use in daily life.
Good luck.

I think it is okay as long as they set it to private and only add people they know. I wouldn't have the just adding random people. I have a myspace account you would not belive some of the sickos that message me.

I dont know, as long as you monitor it I guess, Maybe have his password so you can occasionally get into it and check what hes doing and read his emails.
It can be very scary, Id also make sure his profile is set to private so the whole wrold cannot see or learn about him, only the ones who send him an email and he approves as his friend.

I am 16 years old and i have one. I love it to keep in touch with friends, because i have moved away. As long as thier profiles are set to private and you make sure that ur kids are not talking to people they dont know on there im sure nothing is to worry.
