My son is just coming up to 8. He is very bright, but over the last couple of weeks he is very quick to snap and get angry. We have tried all sorts, from getting cross to trying to talk to him but it seems like a red mist comes down which lasts about an hour before he calms down and then he is sorry. Any ideas ???

I am 36 weeks pregnant and living with the father of my child...We have been fighting non stop and he has threatened to take our son away from me after he is born. I am far from an unfit mother, I do not drink, do drugs, or even smoke. I have 4 other kids and he says it is because of them that he wants to take our son from me. He says it is because I let them whine and don't discipline them enough...I am a good mother....my kids are always fed, clean, in school and I am always home...the only thing I worry about is that he has more money and I can't get a place of my own since I don't make much..Can the courts take away my baby for that?

Lately my daughter has been talking to what I can only describe as an imaginery friend. She is always telling this "person" what to do, like saying "Come on, lets go!" and telling "her" to be quite. I have asked her if she has a "friend" and she says yes and tells me her name is the same as my daughters name. I thought this was kinda young to have an imaginery friend, but I can't figure out whoelse she could be talking to.

My mom is 49 years old, I am married and 25. My wife and I are trying to have our first baby and my mom has mentioned that she is too old to be someone's grandma.

She says that she doesn't feel like she has the time to be a grandma because she likes to hang out with her friends and live her life. Now she has a new boyfriend that she spends every waking minute with so I rarely see her.

I don't want her to take care of my baby, I just was hoping she would be a grandma to my kid since my dad is dead. (My parents divorced way before he died).

I am her only child so my kid will be her only grandchild. I know I can't force her to be a grandma if she doesn't want to be one, but what do I do?

Can't she live her life AND be a grandma? I don't need her help with my family, I just wanted her to be somewhat involved.

What do you think?

my 9 yr old came in a few minutes ago and said something about this man he just seen on the discovery channel, westly dodd, that had molested and murdered 30 some odd kids..and i had never heard of him, so i looked it up, and we sat and read about it together..he asked me what molesting was, so i told him it was where he bent them over and "penatrated" the little boy...he eventually got really scared of what i was reading and said he didnt want to here anymore..they were 2 stories of how westly got the kids..parks, theater, hit home with him, becasue ive taught them these things to do, and it could save there life someday..this was some blunt proof of this cuz it came from tv, not moms mouth...anyway..when hubs came in, i told him what i had said what molesting was...he said i explained rape!!! not molesting...molesting was everything but the actual rape, once penitration happens, its then rape as well...? do i re explain this to my son, or leave it go...shouldnt he know the diffrence?

I am asking just out of curiousity.

My mother is left-handed. She is asian and was born in the late 50s. Her mother tried so hard to switch her but wasn't successful. She told me it caused my mother to stammer.

One of my mother's sister's daughter was also born left-handed and my mother's sister forced her to write with her right hand and was successful.

If I have a left-handed child, I will try to switch him/her. My mother wasn't too happy when she knew that and told me it is wrong. I thought it is the right thing to do? I am half asian half white & I can't believe she said that as asians are known for switching left-handed kids.

My child knows (most of the time) when its time to go. I just need help with getting comfortable in the bathroom on the toilet. The child will sit for a few minutes but then hops up and wants a pull-up on to do whatever needs to be done be it number 1 or 2. Can anyone help please. I know it depends on wether the child is ready but is there a way to interest them in trying? I had a family member recommend stickers or favorite food or snack to entice them in sitting but is there anything else?

In the church I go to, the priest is always complaining about how annoying cell phones are when they go off in mass, yet he LOVES little kids and loves when parents bring them to mass w/them. Me on the other hand...I find crying kids just as, if not worse than cell phones. For one thing, little kids not only distract the parents during the entire mass, but also all the people around them. Secondly, unlike a phone..you cant shut a kid up! I just wish parents would be smart sometimes and leave their kids at home

My current fiance' 3 boys constantly talk back, act out, do not listen, etc. Her middle child recently got suspended from 1st grade??? Their father who, gets them every other weekend, constantly talks bad about their mother saying the reason he doesn't take them anywhere or do things with them is because he's broke from paying their mother. In return, when the kids come back from their dads house each weekend and work we've done as far as correcting their behavior is no erased and we get kids (none older than 9) that talk back, slam doors, etc. As a step-father-to-be I try and speak with the kids. I tell them this is not the way to act. (I have 4 of my own well behaved from a previous marriage) I worry when my kids come over that they try and pick up these bad habits. My fiance's kids really stree me out however since I work a lot during the week I hardly have any interaction. She tries her best but the dad erases any work we do every other weekend. I am setting myself up here?

I collect £2 coins. Yesterday, when I went to put some more coin into the jar they were all gone, about £200 pounds worth! I went down to the police station to see if they would take fingerprints if I paid for them but they said that they could only do it if I reported the crime. (It's not the first time money has gone missing and I need to know who is taking it!) I was advised to confront the kids which I have done but both deny taking the money. The boy is my partners' and the girl is mine and studying in order to be a barrister. Although my partner says he loves me, I don't believe I will have his full backing if I report the crime and it turns out to be his son. I am very strong willed and if it comes to it I will report it, come what may! At the moment, I feel like the bad guy instead of the victim of crime. Please help me!!!! I had a best friend that I used to talk to about difficult situations but he died in June and there is no one else that is impartial to talk to.

The other day my 5 year said someone on television was a bully. I thought it was a good time to discuss it. He really hasn't had to deal with one yet, but I was trying to think of the long term concepts on how to deal. If I tell him to teacher instead of deal with it himself, what is he going to do when he is an adult. If I tell him to stand up to the bully, what is he going to think when he gets kicked out of school if it becomes a fight?
I have been reading so much lately about how little things from your childhood can affect you your whole life. That is why I am trying to think about this 40 years out.

My husband and I have been together for 5 years and married for 2. I am 23 and he is 25. He is the best thing that ever happened to me, and everyday I think about how I am so happy to call him my husband. We are now trying to conceive our first baby and are so happy to be adding to our family.

The problem is people constantly feel the need to tell me I am stupid for marrying so young and even stupider to have a child at 23/24 years old. They think because I am young I will be bad mom, end up divorced or on welfare. Apparently 23 is like being 16 now a days.

Its so uncalled for because we own a home, have great careers and have college educations and we have enough money to have several children. Plus we are very happy together!

I hear a lot that I am naive and unmotivated for wanted to be a wife and mother before I turn 30. People are anti-marriage and children unless you are 30+!

How can I grow a solid backbone and stop being so sensitive when I am 100% happy with my life

I also posted this in the toddler section but I want more advice, maybe from parents that have been through a similar experience. My 3 year old son was touched by his cousin (9yrs old). I found this out after my son started having "accidents" in his pants. I was immediatley alarmed that was something was going on with him. I spoke with him and he did tell me that she touched his "hiney" and put her hand inside. I tried not asking too many questions but couldn't help myself as I was destroyed by this news. Him and another little boy was found playing with them both having their pants pulled down. This was my sons doing. He also has been seen playing with dolls in the "hiney" area. He no longer talks to me about this and when he is asked about it he yells at me "that nothing happened". I fear that he is acting out on what was done to him with other kids. I am taking him to see a psychologist about this and was wondering if anyone has been in this situation and what the outcome
