I have heard of little bits of foam you can get to drop in the toilet and your boy can make a game out of shooting them. I saw those being sold while my kids were tiny. I have girls so I don't know how well they work but it's worth a try.

Children may b ready to start toilet training when they show an interest in the toilet, pull their pants down, say when they r wet or soiled, or control the urge to wet or soil...
1/ find out ur child's pattern - take notes of times of day when ur child usually wets or passes bowel movements. U will b able to sit ur child on the toilet at these times when u start training. They will associate feelings of a full bladder or bowel with using the toilet. If ur child does not show a regular pattern, or wets often, they may not b ready for toilet training.
2/ Use a potty or a toilet with a seat ring and a step.
3/ Explain the toileting steps to ur child.
4/ Encourage ur child to sit on the toilet.
5/ Do not insist if ur child refuses to sit on the toilet.
6/ Praise and reward ur child for following the steps and for any successes.
7/ Stay calm if ur child accidentally wets or soils!
8/ If toilet training becomes upsetting, wait for a few weeks and try again.

Hope this helps, failing that u can always ask ur healthvisitor for advice and info.

Wait I have three boys 8/5/3. The 8 and 5 year old were 3 1/2 and the 3 year old did it himself the month before he turned 3. Boys are typically 3 1/2 when they are potty trained. I can't imagine trying to do it at two. A friend of mine tried took over a year before he was dry. My 8 year old had 2 accidents my 5 year old never had any. The best advice I can give is to wait.

I agree with thezaylady; make it fun. I have a boy too, and i used anything that would float, a ping pong ball is great, to make it a game to try and aim for it.

As for number 2's, well for the very first time, offer some kind of reward, and explain that if he keeps doing it in the toilet the reward will be how proud mummy is of her grown up boy and give him lots of positive praise.

If he forgets or has an accident, just tell him that's ok, because you know he'll remember next time.

Hope it all works out ok for you.

You said he was 2 and I agree with waiting a little longer, but your choice. If you do decide to wait, start him in the spring when it is warmer.....and I have the perfect trick that worked twice for me, but I lived where I had a privacy fence in the back yard, so may not work for you. I drew a white circle on a tree outside with paint, and he would "hit in the circle". this started when my son would be outside playing, and would go in his training diapers because he was a typical boy, and was toooo busy to come in. Anyways, he made a game of it, and even drank more koolaide so he could "go" more. AND.....with the circle on the tree being white, and he was getting good at it, I showed him the "white circle" on the toilette. So, now he could play the game anywhere he went. This help for me, and so I tried it again on boy #2, and once again, it worked like a charm. Hope this helps.

REPITITION Take him in there until you accidently catch him at the righ moment then make a huge big deal. Or we sat my sons potty next to the regular potty and put cheerios in both and my husband taught him how to sink the cheerios. It was like father and son bathroom sports. It wasnt always neat but he got the hang of it pretty quick

talk about it with him, pushing him can make it rough. TRy to turn it into something that he wants to do. With my daughter she would ask about it every time I went, and I explained that it was something that big girls do, now she wants to do it, so we let her pick a potty, and her 'panties' and she is doing great. Good Luck...ps with the lil boy that I used to watch we painted a bullseye on squares of toilet paper and let him practice his aim, a piece of foam or plastic also works, but always remember to get it back out
