Always go for child support even if you two are getting along currently, things go bad later on it will look bad that you never wanted child support before.

I know this sounds cruel, but I call it the "asshole tax". Of course, my ex lives in another country and never wanted anything to do with my daughter, which is fine by me.

Anyway, I'm middle class so it's a pretty trivial amout of money, but it's nice to have that extra $100 a month. It gives me an excuse to buy little things for my daughter, like a new pair of shoes, an art class, a jigsaw puzzle, etc.

Anyhow, that's my two cents. I think in a situation like this with no real right and wrong answer, all you can do is listen to the stories of others.

Daddies that don't have soul custody should pay child support. Remeber this, that support is really for the child not for the mom. So never feel baad about making them pay.

There should be a set amount and written agreement made, and if possible paid through child support. There are programs to tell just how much he should be paying. This is to protect him as well as you. It is his child and it is only right he helps with the child.

yes he should be paying child support and have the child on his insurance and help pay for daycare. my son father and i get along but i make him pay child support and hes okay with that. if you dont make him pay it he may take advantage of you later on and wont help out at all and think hes off scott free so i suggest you go to a county worker and fill out the papers to get child support.

All depends: First are you married or were you married? If you were both married and decided to have a child together yes.
That is his baby to and he should support it and do it through the courts.
If you just whored around with him and got pregnant and he had no expectation that could happen and you said, "Guess what, I think it is yours?" While he thought you were on the pill and he had made no committment to you. You made it you support it.
In the future if that is your life style take a pill.
Men are not responsible for your irresponsible behavior.

You should make sure you get court ordered child support, whether you guys get along or not. You're not doing it for you..you are doing it for your baby. The baby deserves that money so you can provide for him/her.

His lame *** ought to be supporting his child and his woman!! too many "baby daddys" are just using women and letting the children grow up poor and unloved and uninfluenced!

No offense, but you sound like you are worried about him. You need to pursue what is best for your baby. If you can get by, and don't want the hassle factor, let that be your guide. But, in my state, if his name is on the birth certificate, no matter what you do, he would already be on "a list". Good luck.
