I would say 8 o'clock but more important than that is the consistancy of it. Whatever time you choose, it must stay that time and no later until you decide at what age they will go to bed later. There can be no negotiations with this.

My 6 year old daughter goes to bed at 8:30 pm on school nights. On the weekend, she does not have a particular time, just when she falls asleep which is usually by 9:00 or 9:30 pm.

I think 7 or 7:30 is reasonable since you have to leave home by 6am. If they get up at 5am going to bed at 7pm gives them 10 hours of sleep which is an appropriate amount for "most" kids. My kids go to bed at 8:30 or 9:00 but they don't get up until 8am. They are 7,6,4 & 3. My 21 month old goes to bed about 8:00 and my 9 month old "whenever she wants" LOL

I'd say Mercurys answer is crazy! 10 p.m ? These children need to get up for school one day! Mine is 7 and has been going to bed at 8 for a long long time. Occasionally she will stay up til 9, but if she has a hard time waking up for school, we go back to 8. You are on the right track, all kids are a bit different, I know one mom whos kids go to bed at 7 and are up at 8, so whatever works for them, as long as they don't have bags under their eyes the next day.

Kids are in bed by 8:00 asleep by 8:30. they are 9 and 11.
I also have a niece that has no time limits. She has black bags under her eyes and is doing very poorly in school, she's 10. So keep up with what you are doing. Your children will be healthier for it.

My kids 8, 5 and 2 all go to bed at 8. Sometimes on special occasions and weekends they can stay up a little later. But If i gets to late my 8 yr old will just say I am going to bed. But I would say whatever works best for your family. As long as they get enough sleep and excel in their lives you're doing just fine.

My 8 yr old son has had the same routine since i can remember;and it hasnt been a problem.
We give him a "time to do teeth" call at about 8.15pm, and after that he knows he has 10 mins before bed. If it is summer time, and the sun is still up, and it's stinking hot(daylight savings arrrgggg) then we bend the rules a bit untill it cools down enough to sleep.
It's just a matter of finding a routine that's right for you, and sticking to it.
I also don't believe in sending kids to bed of that age to bed before the sun has gone down, it's not natural.

I have 3 children and they all go to bed at the same time. 8 30 pm. I don't think it's good for children to be up so late. They're 4,2, and 11 months.
