Now before ppl go flying off the handle.
I am going to pay the support!

I am currently out of a job a year+.
I barely make a living and stay with friends when possible.
I have a child, hes 3 months ...and I love him very much...even though the mother did things to make sure she gets pregnant by me to "trap" me into marriage...
Anyway, I send down what I can.
even if its $50 that I could really use.
How will I be charged child support right now with no job or income?

Will courts fine me when I get a job and want all the support and interest at one time?

Ex...when I get a 50k/yr job will the court order me to pay 20% plus interest on the year I didnt have a job?

I want to take care of my son, but I dont want to put myself back in the hole because of my sons mothers spite. I will buy him toys and things he need even now, I try, but what will the court order me to do for this year I have no job?

Im concerned about the 20% amount, will they try and do it now or later

Hey, is someone else using your account?

A few months ago you asked "I have a question on child support on how much I will get?" On that question you said you were the woman and were trying to get half of your man's pay. On this question your the man trying to figure it out. Which one are you?

not for sure about the law here in Texas but I know in Arkansas the judge on the child support case will take that you have no job and would most likely tell you that you have so many days (be it 30 or 90 or whatever) to find a job and you will get so much taken out of each paycheck that will go directally to her but you will still have the back pay and it would most likely be worked out through the courts...they will also be less harsh on you since you are paying something when you can... my word to you is that you need to pay her with money order or some kind of physical check so she wont deny that she is getting anything from you...and keep a record on what you send when and check number and keep bank statements..

here in Michigan, you are required to pay. The law has relaxed on the Show cause hearings and warrant for arrest without the mother's input.

You can pay via credit card on-line And any amount past two months old will be reported to the major 3 credit agencies. You are also charged 8% interest, 4% in January and 4% in July for any arrearages.

They don't care if you have a job or not. They figure if you want to avoid any negative repercussions, you will get the money.

Well I am pretty sure that when you do find a job they will order you to pay back child support. So I would find a job as soon as you can. You know my husband was in this country for many years on just a visitors visa and he was able to find many jobs that paid him under the table. Now that he is legal there is no job that he won't take. Our children mean so much to him that he would not allow them to be with out. Even if he has to work a job that is paying him the bare minimum. So you better not tell me that you don't have a job because you are waiting for a $50,000 job to come along. Also it takes two to tango. And if you didn't want her to get pregnant then you should have worn protection. Don't blame it all on her. Your son is an innocent bystander by your twos foolishness.

The courts will keep adding the child support no matter if you have a job or not you will owe back child support.. Whenever you send money to your ex for your baby, SEND A MONEY ORDER, write on it for child support.. Then you have proof.. A gift card does not show proof and she can just say that you havent ssent anything... The judge doesnt care about you or if you have any income they will just keep adding it up..What ever you do always get a money order...

First off always document EVERYTHING!!!!!! Whether you send gift certificates or money orders send them to her certified mail so that way she has to sign in order to receive it, also keep all receipts including the receipt attached to the money order when you first purchase it and when you send the cards or money orders keep the receipt from the post office for sending it certified mail. There is a charge for sending certified mail but it is not very expensive and atleast you will have proof that you sent some form of assistance. State of Texas is very very serious about cracking down on non pay of child support. You should also do a search for the State of Texas Attorney General to find out more. Trust me I was born and raised here in Texas! A few of my guy friends have even received custody of their kiddos and not receive a dime. Atleast you are trying and the court will see that as a plus but you have got to save all receipts!!

No, they will not demand the arrears child support to be paid at once. Once your child support amount is figured out, a percentage of your pay will go to that along with a percentage on top of it to pay back the arrears. They can not take more than 50 percent of your disposable earnings up to the amount that is ordered by the court.

It is the law pal. You have no choice in the matter. Better keep paying it, or you can go to jail and then the state will pay it for you out of the measley $1.00 per day you earn in jail, then when you get out you will have to have a job, and then it will be garnished. Shoulda thought about all this when you were having a good time.
