me and my 15y/o son got into a heated argument and he told me to go fuc* my self and i then told him to go kill himself. now he wants to live with his mom full time(right now we have joint custody)
since he doesnt want to live with me anymore will the judge make his decision completely based on that and give her full custody even though she lives on a fixed income?

I have seen so many people encourage each other to "beat their kids" on this Q&A forum and it makes me sick. I am not even taking a stance on spanking, but a loving parent might suggest it to another with ideas on how to correctly spank or something. "beat the kids" is not a helpful response, and in fact it just pisses me off when I see it. Anybody else?

The first time with our daughter all he did was play video games which was ok I guess he was scared but the second time with our son I was having a hard time because he weighed over 9 pounds he yells out "Damn I thought it was bad when I got shot" and as soon as he said it I yelled somebody give me a gun please but I seriously was mad and he plays the guitar and I am so afraid he is going to bring his guitar up there so am I wrong?by the way he is a great dad in every way.

It just drives me nuts on here that people are SO snippy in their responses and then have their IM or email disabled so that we can't give them a piece of OUR mind for the rude answer! Does anyone else feel like this?

disciplining my kids. What creative punishment did you recieve or do you inflict on your kids.
"one of my co-workers on his daughter, the one where she kept leaving the milk out, and he made her carry around the spoiled gallon of milk all day. I wonder why more parents don't get creative like that with their discipline. Certainly there are punishments much more interesting than just grounding and spanking. Of all of the methods, the craziest punishment that I have ever heard of was from one of my friends that I worked on airplanes with, in Wichita. When he and his brothers were bad, his mom would toss handfuls of dry rice on the kitchen floor and make them kneel on it for varying lengths of time. He said it was uncomfortable as hell, but it never even left a mark. What a darn creative woman. My parents were much more of traditionalists; what about yours? What strange punishments have you endured or heard of?

Have you heard what's happening these days? Day cares are not safe in my opinion. How can you let someone you dont even know take care of your child? They may have a good impression but once you leave, you have no idea what is going to happen! Escpecially babies! There was this one lady that actually HUNG a baby upside down! I mean, ARE YOU KIDDING ME????? no way! DO any of you feel this way? Or do you feel extra safe about it? My friend's aunt pays $800 every WEEK for day care. My friend's mom was like, UH NO. I AM NOT PAYING THAT MUCH, I DONT CARE HOW RICH THIS COMMUNITY IS. NO WAY!

I am a mother of three, My 8 and 4 year old daughers do not give me much of a problem. My 7 year old son however, cries for every reason that you can possibly imagine. I have tried time out, spanking, bribing, taking his favorite toys away, but nothing seems to work!!!
My live-in boyfriend has been EXTREMELY tolerant of the situation. He has even tried talking to him, conveying to him that his ACTIONS, are what cause other peoples' REACTIONS to his bad behaviour. (He thinks nobody likes him) But it NEVER gets through to him.
He does not respect me or ANYBODY, nor does he fear me.
About two weeks ago, his behaviour became so outrageous, that I was on the verge of sending him away to live with his father, the only reason I didn't is because his father is irresponsible!!!
What can I do next???

Our 11 year old daughter has been put back in diapers for over a year now. What we cannot understand is the
fact that we had NO trouble at potty training her, she was the easiest one to train. It started a few months
before she turned 10, she started wetting her bed. Then she starts wetting her pants in the DAY time and it got
to constant. Her teacher calls me to the school and tells me about her problem, I started sending her to school
in pull ups so that she can have protection and will not be embarrassed and when she is at home she can wear
her underpants.
We now have her in diapers, that is the only choice that we have right now, I know that this has to be
embarrassing for her even though she says that it isn't but what choice do I have? She is seeing her doctor
about this and he has tried several medications which are not working, now they are testing her for ms. We
need help.

She is 18 and does not live with us because she moved out after we refused to accept her dropping out of high school. She will call or come around when she needs something, but other than that, she is jumping from relative to older friends to relatives homes. It's so disappointing and sad. The bio mom is not concerned with her behavior. Anyway, back to my question - What should we get her for Christmas? My friend suggested a certificate for the cost of her taking her GED, but I want other responses.

Aren't our greatgrandparents, grandparents and parents obvious evidence that this is not true? Are they saying my parents were bad for spanking me when I was doing wrong as a child? I mean, I love and respect my parents immensely, just as my grown children still love and respect me for it. They still tend to thank me for it just like I used to thank my parents (before they passed)! Spanking is a natural parenting technique in all branches of my family. (this is taking into respect that these are spankings, and not beatings, beating is always wrong.).

It's pretty simple. My own opinion is that allowing your own kids to get fat is a form of child abuse, just like feeding your dogs until they are obese is animal abuse. Do you agree, or not? And why?

Thank you.

I have recently posted a question or two, and have been suprised by the quality of answers. I am neutral on the issue of administering spankings, as I was brought up with them and haven't developed any real problems from them. My wife, however, is adamant that spankings be adminstered in cases of misbehaviour... how can I spank my children without hurting them? I'm looking for specific techniques and positions. If you have any tips/ suggestions, I'd love to hear them. Thanks,
-Jim

Have you considered how many times this question has been asked, and could tell the asker was obviously underage? What state has our nation come to when we are not educating our children properly about sex? Apparently the scare tactics of just the past few DECADES has not done anything but led them to do the same things, but ask ignorant, paranoid questions. Do you believe we need a more honest, open dialogue about sex with our children? Its obvious that they are going to do what they are going to do ... I did, everyone I know did. And we were all mislead by the propaganda and fear campaign driven against underage sex when we were in school. Why don't we just be straight with our kids about it, educate more on a medical and honest level? Seems to me that this is the most effective method, since me and all my friends eventually went to the books and learned that way. And are smarter, safer and healthier for it. What do you think?
