Our town has a winter wonderland parade every year. My fiance and I always take our children. The parade happens to be tonight. It starts in 3 minutes and I just found out 20 minutes ago that it is tonight. I'd take my girls except my fiance went into work tonight to get some overtime for Christmas. He has our minivan which is our only vehicle. Am I overreacting about not being able to take them?

Why is that? We both are mothers, we both go through the same thing and we both get through it. Why are we so different from you in your minds?

We like to match socks with the clothes/shoes they wear. For example I will not let them wear white socks with dress shoes.

Im not sure what to do to end these battles? My son is 8, and doesnt listen in the morning and is VERY difficult. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get the kids to listen and get moving in the morning? Also, how do you get your kids to go to bed on time? His bedtime is 9pm, and im VERY strict about that, but he chooses to lay awake in his bed until 11pm or so instead of going to sleep. I cant give him a sleeping pill! How can I make this easier on both of us? Im sick of yelling, im sure hes sick of hearing it, and sick of geting priveledges taken away when he doesnt listen. Nothing works! Any ideas?

are way too sexed up these days, I mean la senza girl???
It seems like mini skirts are way to short for little girls, tube tops at 10? Even thoungs and tight fiting jeans, for the 13 year olds!
I dont remember clothes like this when I was 12!
I am now 26.

My son is 8 years old, and I want to set up a reward system for him to encourage good behavior. Its getting to the point where taking priveledges away does not have a lasting effect on him. He loves to play playstation, computer games, and watch TV (which are the things id like him to earn). Every time I try to set this up and make a list, I get confused! I was thinking a point system, each point is worth 10 min of "free time" to be split up between those three things he loves to do. This seems so complicated to be marking every minute down and what hes used it for to see how many minutes he has left! I know lots of people use this system (or the ladder) but I am unsure of how to do it. Also, if I were to use the ladder system, where does he start on day one? at the top, bottom, or middle? Same with the points... should he have some points when we start? Im afraid if he has none, he will see it as too daunting of a task and not want to complete it (hes lazy!) Thank you!

My mom had a favorite and it wasn't me. Messed up my self esteem pretty bad. Now I see that most of my siblings and friends have a favorite and it makes me sick. Should I say something?

Poor babies.

Anyone else been through this?

How do parents rationalize giving powerful mind altering drugs to young children just because they can't sit still in a classroom. How do parents take the word of stranger's observations to diagnose AHDD since their is no scientific or physical evidence of such a disorder?

I was thinking about buying my son a potty around his first birthday. Every time my husband and I go to the restroom I wanted to make it a point to put him on his big boy potty so he gets a grasp on the whole potty ordeal.

I'm not 100% sure about it yet so realize this is just an idea.

I've had to potty train a four year old whose parents didn't want to train him while still in their care. It was a nightmare! I'm worried my son (like him) won't ever get to the point where he is "ready."

I don't plan on forcing him to potty train but was thinking it may be effective way to get him on the path of potty training. Of course I'll keep him in diapers until he's ready to not be completely potty trained but I'm hoping this will send his mind in the correct direction.

Has anyone ever done this before? Does it seem effective?

I just don't want to ever change a four year old's diaper ever every again! LOL! Thank you for your respectful advice!

My husband and I have a blended family, he has 3 children and I have 3 children. All of the children seem to be adjusting well except for his 5 year old son. He refuses to eat when he is with us no matter what we try. The only food he will eat is chicken nuggets and mac and cheese and the pasta my husband fixes for him. My husband has assured me that the food I make is all of the stuff he likes but he sits and looks at it with a disgusted look on his face. He doesn't mind being sent away from the table or missing dessert. He will even go without eating for a couple of meals. He also throws tantrums if he is asked to do things he doesn't want to do.. His home life with his mother is not good, they don't have any family values over there and she lets them sit and play video games all day. They don't even get to play outside. I feel sorry for them, we try to make a loving and stable environment for them here. His issues are causing alot of stress in our family.
